They do golf balls somewhat as a gimmick. The real testing is artificial poo. Pretty gross stuff but accurate.

PS. If anyone is looking the American Standard Champion series is the best flush for the buck. High end toilets look nice but worry more about looks than getting rid of a big deuce. Put on in the kids bathroom when we had a full house. Stopped having to constantly plunge the old one.

It’s been 20+ years but Toto’s were generally the best back when I tested them.

Replace the fill valve with a Korky valve with adjustable overflow tube.

If you are just worried about sending it down the line, open the overflow tube adjustment all the way and it will put extra water down the toilet bowl while the tank is filling.

Also try eating less.

The adjustable korky valve was originally designed for American standard.. my old man designed that. The previous Korky valve that was small and looked like the starship enterprise aka the Korey 612 was originally the Fillpro valve model number 216.. my dads bday is 216 that valve is what bought the river house planes boats etc before he sold it.

Can’t blame Newsom for this one. Jerry Brown got the 1.2 low flow approved 8 years ago. 🙃 7 other states have similar requirements
Ok fair enough but Newsom had and has the ability to undo it and every other BS policy, but he won't he also has the power to get rid of CARB I would imagine but here they are getting paid to fuck up our lives one regulation at a time. The democrat party is too beholden to the environazis and the farce of climate change ending the world in 10 years or sooner.

They make a really good product. Haven’t tested them for awhile. I know a few of the manufacturers spend more money on design than how to flush better with a fraction of the water. The newest toilets are down to .8 GPF. The old school toilets/tech wouldn’t come close to working.

I'm not upset about the incandescent light and fluorescent light ban. LED's arent that expensive anymore and they last quite a long time with more light output.

The Ultra-low NOX shit is garbage light RB said. Heat Pumps make more sense in just about all SCAQMD installations now-a-days as well.

I want to know, when the heat pump water heaters take a shit....... who is going to fix them? Or is the heat pump unit made like a RV A/C where it is usually just easier to replace the whole thing? Also, the increased maintenance costs. You now have an air filter to replace as well as an Evaporator coil to keep clean. Is there any condensate discharge to pipe to a drain as well?

Wow cool story. Funny, a good friend on mine's dad came up with the push down faucet you see in public restrooms and a good friend recently invented the shower head that turns off at the first sense of hot water. I think SDGE gave them to customers.

It the first thing you do when you buy a toilet is put in a Korky. Its even in our pool fill housing.

HAHA. Its for people that turn on the shower waiting for hot water then dont get in right away. Also a good notice that the shower is hot. You just pull an attached cord and the water starts flowing again. Great for kids room. LOL he gets around by Jet now.

My LHC house built in 2002/2003 has awesome toilets, one I had put in was the higher type for my elderly Mother-in-Law.... The plan is to likely sell the house in about 7-10 years. I will trade the toilets with my OC house prior to listing the LHC house. I love the idea on "Fixing the shower heads" in hotel rooms, The one thing I do, when possible, is if the fan goes on with the light, if I can unplug the fan - I DO.

Ultra low nox furnaces have the highest failure rate I have seen in my career. Only in SCAQMD territory. We rarely sell gas for this reasonanmd have gone almost exclusively with heat pumps for our clients.

How hard is to repair a heat pump? Or are they disposable.

I have read quite a few issues with the new water heaters. Some are dead on arrival.

No different than repairing an AC.

We have installed quite a few heat pump water heaters with no issue.

The heat pump water heater I need to install is for owner of a HVAC company. So one of his guys should know how to work on that part. He installed a heat pump for the house. AcPro unit. It was cheap enough I would think you would just swap a new one in. But my neighbor had 1 installed and it was faulty out the box. And the company refused to put a new one in. They tore it down and put a new part in it under factory warranty.

This will be my first one to install. There is a garage sink going next to it if I need to run a condensate drain. I ran 10 gauge to it in case they want to put a regular one in later.

I prefer just a regular water heater but going to have to learn all these new things. Have a set of plans I bid with a electric tankless required on it.

Huge market for the tankless, mini split and ad the new water heaters to the list.

I just carried my own showerhead, much easier that way.🤣
ShowerMaxx

Here are the instructions for removing the white plastic piece, that prevents the flow. Very simple, but your kids are going to run the heater empty. Put it in the master bath, and let your kids figure it out on their on wallet. 😁

I put in the Costco Kohler smart toilet today. Nice unit. Have to take a few pics. Need to mount the controller. The open close feature works. Have not read the manual. I didn't see any way to flush it until the controller is set up. But it senses when you are close and opens and when you move away it closes.

Got 1 of the Gerber toilet installed tonight at the project house. Same shitter I have here at my house. Nice double flush unit. No more driving to this house when I have to take a leak.

New low flow Toto installed in the caretakers house, seems nice enough. I did remove the low flow deal in the new shower head so we get some water flowing down the main and pushing the load out LOL

We’ll see how it goes.

So who has the go to solution to match the footprint of an old toilet when changing to a new non functioning model?

Replaced our electric water heater. Bought it at Lowe’s, $485. Inquired about them doing the delivery and install. They said sure, in that case you’ll pay the installer for the water heater. Lowe’s LHC is now using an install group based in Phoenix. Install group called me, said they could install in about 10 days and the price would be $1624, which included the cost of the WH. I said no thanks. Called J Duva Plumbing. They said they could do the removal and install the next day, $220, plus $50 to pick up new WH at Lowe’s and haul away the old unit. Done deal. Called Lowe’s and paid for the new unit. J Duva did the rest.

Replace all the internals and keep the porcelain. Is probably the only option. Or upsell a bathroom remodel.

Costco includes the install and haul away of appliances in the price of the appliance and they have huge discounts when you buy multiple items. Huge savings I tried to do a comparison with best buy and it was way cheaper. Of course they sub it out and I had a separate guy come and do the dishwasher vs the ovens but it was pretty efficient and all done in 2 hours. I actually got an extra built in microwave and installed it at my river house myself it was a $450 unit but i got $300 off cause I went over some pricing threshold that gave me an extra discount. Then two weeks later I realized I fucked up and could have also added a big screen tv to the same purchase package and gotten more money off.

Lowes does the buy more save more on appliances as well. If you are going to install yourself it's cheaper than Coatco. I have numerous appliances on hand from that deal. Buy 5 you save the most. So if a customer needs 3 I buy 5 and apply the savings to my 2. Sometimes there like $50.

I have another brand new kitchenaid microwave combo for sale. Like the last one I posted. It's $4k new Brand new on pallet still factory wrapped for 2k.

Gotcha. So low flow required. Make a stamp. 1.2GPF stamp it and send it.

Or look for a skirted toilet that will cover the footprint of old. That Kohler smart toilet had a pretty big footprint. But Most Costcos sold out and I checked the supply house $2500. I have a second one sitting in my living room in case they want another in there other bathroom. They say once you go bidet you won't go back.

The new Kohlers we got at Lowes were bigger or the same when replacing some old Mayfair's, got lucky I guess. I did measure I thought I'd be okay, also worried about being too close to the wall, ended up being about 1" closer but still worked

Every Bathroom remodel I run a GFI outlet at the toilet location just in case. Most say they don't plan in it. But like you mentioned once they get one they want 1 in every Bathroom. Reason Costco is selling the Washlets by the pallet load these days. And those Kohlers I just bought. Torrance Costco sold out in 2 days.

How much does the ass master 3000 cost? I wouldn’t mind getting one if it had heated and chilled water. Oh, and where can I pick one up?

The Toto washlet you can add to any toilet. Just need a outlet close by. They are $349 at Costco they were $299 but the sale ended on the 20th of last month.

If no Costco Hirsch pipe can order you 1 or any plumbing supply.

Lowes has a generic brand 1 in store for under 300.

The nicer washlets you can program users. Set seat temp, water temp, air blow dry temp. They self clean auto open. And they even have a fart sucking feature to eliminate odors.
