$$ clouding judgements IMO.
LOTO is forecasting over 500k in charitable allocations this year alone (last year they gave out over 350k). The bridge to bridge event alone is going to donate over 75k. Both these numbers were reported on the live feed today by the coordinators. The LOTO Exec committee that runs the shootout does it to support the local community, zero salary from the event. They run it like a board with elections etc, so you don’t have 1 group controlling everything. Takes years to get to that position and IMO works very well.

DS is not setup the same. You have 1 person trying to do it all with final say over everything. DS needs an Exec committee and heads that lead each event (Wednesday rides, street party, poker run, shootout, etc). The event head has final call on decisions that drive
👍

Had a River Dave situation while tied up at the shootout. Guy 2 boats down went to step from his boat to cruiser next to us and stepped wrong and broke his ankle. Bone was sticking out the side of his leg, blood everywhere. Not a good way to end the shootout.

LOL. DS is never going to change. You guys bring up the same shit every year.
It’s far too political. She screwed me and Skater.

Just think how bad you are when you’re a large performance boat event and you lose Skater’s sponsorship.

Agree - There are a lot of Havasu and Southwest based families taking their boats to FL and LOTO. Big boating events like Lake Powell Challenge and LOTO are way better when not for profit philanthropic. FBC is a different deal and honestly I think if he wanted to RD could potentially replicate with a bunch of effort, blood sweat and tears what Stu is doing. Do I think it is worth RDs time with everything he has going - probably not...

I have stopped doing Storm Poker Runs when I was not able to get an extra ticket to dinner and take both of my boys (their mother was not feeling well). At the time they each weighed 50 LBS and they wanted to go to the dinner / costume party. I was told no extra tickets, sold out, no exceptions. I thought Christina was joking. At that point if I want to do a poker run I will tow my boat anywhere (Happy we are having the RDP run).

I have volunteered to help. Was more or less told, you can help as a safety boat, but we don’t need any help organizing any aspect of the event (that is BS). DS21 was my last as a participant. DS22 I went to Moab (only thing I missed was the RDP trailer and street party area). MB I have made other plans since MB19, when I had a similar ask as SJP.

When Jim retired, the event should of gone to the Swoops IMO.
My biggest issue with DS - the combined total of all charitable donations does not even equal what LOTO donated last year. I would be willing to give more, if the $$ went to charitiable organizations and not the organizers!

Did anyone catch that Black Thunder deep V running 150’s? That thing runs hard. 👍

Stoked for AJ Barrett! Nice job buddy. 😎
There was some awesome runs by some very large V’s today.
The electric powered cat at 101 was awesome

Electric deal ran 104. I’d be willing to bet their stick is about to go up on Monday! Currently at seven dollars a share.

Their goal was 100 mph.. pretty cool they pulled it off.

This is very hard for me to respond to, I was safety boat for over 12 years, after I ran in the poker run one year, however that part don’t matter, I have volunteered at Jim seniors house to pack and sort all the Murch as my kids and wife have done as well, Desert Storm has always give me a reason to look forward to the boating season, yes I will agree that it has been difficult at times with Christina however I think That they are still trying to live Jim ‘s legacy this poker run started as a very small gathering ,there quite a few people on this site that know and remember the early years of Desert Storm, Way before it was called Desert strom, I and my family have not attended since 2017 and not sure that we will, Havasu is my playground I adore and wish to retire in the city, in the end I do feel that Jim and Christina are doing everything in their power to continue this legacy, however maybe they should listen to a couple of outside voices. This is only my opinion, please respect what they’re trying to do. By the way to answer the “that I responded to, the Swoops have no business being part of the storm.

I hate to hear that. It absolutely sucks to have happen.

This years rdp run is gonna be a fun relaxed little deal. The sponsors are going to get their moneys worth via the social media and web presence that rdp has (something most the other events don’t have / that’s a whole different conversation).

I am going to do an rdp run in the spring as well. :). If those grow into something bigger overtime organically then It is what it is.

I don’t feel the need to go after someone or try to take them out etc.. I’m just gonna do my own thing and we will balance the work / fun ratio to guide the path into the future.

Key word being “fun”.

I’d like to be at monster storm this year and if scheduling allows we will run it. Our current plan is to be at Desert Storm next year as well.

If it quits being fun or too much of a hassle then we will change directions.

One of our social media vids.. Michael has been putting a ton of them out. Tyler has as well. I don’t know how to use IG so most of them don’t get posted on here.

Is the Camden the best place to stay?

Sorry I didn’t answer this sooner Mike. It really depends on what your goals are..

Camden is the host hotel for supercat.. it’s about 25 minutes to performance boat center. It is also about 30 minutes to captain Ron’s.

However if ya want to drive to coconuts it’s 41 minutes..

Long story short driving by car here sucks.. everything is impossible to get to because there is a winding body of water in the way. You will literally spend all day in the car trying to get place to place. Believe me Tommygun and I did it a couple years in a row. It sucked.

Now if ya bring a boat it helps tremendously in terms of getting to all the spots.

Now ironically enough if your actual goal is to watch the shootout.. you are better off staying home and watch the live stream.

If you are at the Camden they setup a big screen and stream it. They actually play the audio etc..

We were at captain Ron’s today.. they have TV’s setup so you can see it but you won’t be able to hear it because there’s music playing at the bar and then a live band etc.. the cool part about Ron’s is some of the race boats come back to the slips and you can see them in person etc..

Captain Ron’s is back in a cove and about a half mile away from the shoot out, which is blocked by the spectator fleet.

For the west coast guys like us it would make a lot of sense to Just have a LOTO PARTY in the garage and stream it. BBQ etc.. you will actually see the whole shoot out.

Trying to cover this event from a media perspective makes zero sense to me.. you can’t get anything online faster, or better then their live stream which is hosted by one of the most knowledgeable guys in the industry. They themselves are watching it on the screens and commenting on it with an approximate 20 second delay from the actual passes. The twenty seconds is the production time where they are switching camera angles running commercials etc.. the whole thing is super impressive to be honest.

Anyhow to watch the shoot out stay home. To have a great experience bring a boat (something that is rough water capable). If ya want to just check it out rent a cheap vrbo near the Camden and hit all the spots ya can by car..

To do this lake properly though you’d need a week before hand a decent boat, and some local knowledge.. I’m like six or seven trips into loto and around 50,000 between all the trips and I am just now kinda figuring it out.

This will be the first trip that I felt like I’m coming home with content that I think is gonna be worth it.

Bob Teague had some great questions about the concept that I wish the on dock reporter would of gotten answers to. What is the range, batteries required, charge required between usage, solar compatibilit, etc.

the green V that ran with the same power did not look stable, but still put up solid number.

Was telling the wife I want to go out for the whole week leading up to Shootout Weekend. Leave Havasu with boat in tow early Friday morning and get there by Sunday afternoon. Boat during the week and hit the spots and then do the tie up on the course for Saturday. Stream it on Sunday and then head home Monday morning.

The 255 should do ok out there?? I see some people out there with smaller boats.

Great insight Dave! No worries on answering it earlier. I'd like to go LOTO and would hate to spend a lot of money only to be at the wrong part of the lake and miss everything.

Thinking we need to plan this and get some Halletts out there. Maybe even run the damn shootout just for fun.

Wife and I were talking about doing the same thing.
However, I would try renting a larger V for the week and not tow out my deck (not the best boat for that lake IMO).

Something up on Corey's. Might not make another run.
Liked it better when Olsen ran it. Scary fast.
