If the permits are in Ron’s name then maybe. But the LOTO BoD has the name, equipment, insurance, money and the volunteers, etc..

The entire LOTO BoD is not going to be replaced. If anything Ron is invited back on the board and a new set of elections take place and a new BoD is in place for 2026.

2025 they will need to play nice or the event is at risk of being canceled in 2025 and that does not work out well for anyone involved.

We will see.. the only thing in your list that couldn’t be replaced in 2.2 seconds is the name. And I’m not even sure if that’s trademarked or not.

Time will tell.
LOTO is a small community. No business owner is going to ruin a huge $$ generating event for the community to prove a point.

Behind the screens maybe, but publicly both parties will keep a very neutral stance.

If Ron is awarded, couldn’t he sell the permit?
If Ron submitted permits under his name or another organizations name to try and impact the LOTO organization (board he was on), that is a BS / dick move IMO.

Highlights he is doing whats best for his businesses vs the community. The LOTO BoD did the same thing by trying to move LOTO closer to business key board members own.

I have been on a few charity BOD’s. Each one, we passed regulations prohibiting local business owners from serving on the board. When we had those type of board members, decisions were made based on what is best for their business vs best for the community.

Can someone please explain to me how you have an OFF SHORE Anything, on a LAKE???

I always thought off shore, meant big blue! Silly me. 😜
I thought that was pretty much a weekend in Parker. 🤣

Oh I’m 100% in agreement that the community needs this event, it’s a HUGE revenue source! Our HOA at LOTO originally sent a “great news” email and has since reeled that back to “looking forward to the week of”.

Who said anything about ruining it? He’s the guy that built it and they just stole it from him. It’s just taking it back.

So doing the same is OK?
Ron was on the board, he got pushed out / retired. Reading between the lines he was not happy the board was going to move the event, so he retired from the board. Then submits permits for the normal weekend to try and steal the event back.

Ron wants the event by his business, folks on the board want it closer to their business. End of day, BOTH groups are putting theirs businesses before an event that helps the community.

When boards starts playing these types of games, no one wins

Sounds like Ron knows how to play the game better
If you are going to takedown a leader you had better be sure you know enough to get the job done

You are making a lot of incorrect assumptions.

There’s a lot of things behind the scenes that I can’t necessarily say..

But what I will say is what happened to Ron was abhorrent. The move of location was done after they retired him.

Maybe
Most Likely

But if LOTO and DS pull off that shootout points based championship, that could make things interesting.

That type of event combination, could impact SCFW attendance from Midwest and east coast boaters who want to participant in shootouts. So you aligning with Ron makes sense. That said, I think shootout participation is going down each year, so does it matter.

So now that they got the permits are they really going to team up with ds and try to do that points deal?

We will be at Dog Days and the Oasis combined for this year, then the Oasis will be the sole host for the next nine years according the deal drafted. Fred will make it a first class event on the hospitality side, I hope Leah and the the team figure out a way to get more boats down the course for both spectators and participants. The new location will be nice for those who are not interested as it will not disrupt the main channel with no wake for miles on end.

Yes and they are also putting on an offshore race here in havasu a week or two after DS. It will be hosted out of Havasu Landing. (Casino on California side).

I’m a bit more conservative when it comes to public announcements..

This was posted on March 11.

I just can’t hardly believe they claimed months of site visits and every detail has been considered.

At the Landing? Really? There’s no way to get there by land that is remotely convenient.. and the ferry couldn’t run during the races?

Reckless

I’m sure it will be great.. and I think it’s a great thing for Havasu. But it’s pretty telling of the leadership and reckless Behavior to even announce you are gonna put on an event of that size in less than six weeks with (yet again) zero permits, zero promotion etc..

I live here, own rdp and even if I threw cubic dollars at promotion I don’t think I coulda pulled it off. From a promotion standpoint alone that isn’t an uphill problem that is a cliff..

On the LOTO shootout side of this thread I will say I much prefer the new location. That side of the lake has so much better infrastructure to handle road traffic, boat traffic, boat repair (PBC is right there by road and water), many more restaurants too. Plus the lake can operate as normal while the shootout runs. It honestly makes sense to me vs Ron’s.

Agreed, we will see how it goes.
Had lunch with a Shootout board member the other day, they are contemplating 2 boats per run in the same class, as Joe mentioned. Logistics, radar/gps, etc seem to be the hurdle.
