Anyone else see this? Any new updates?
How many miles is it? What is the record?
He tried again this year and said he will try again next month.Wasn’t that last year?
Prop shaft broke. How do you have mechanical issues with outboards? I thought they were supposed to be Maintenace free and never breakdown.
I thought they broke a prop last year. Hence why I thought but was an old story. He tried again this year and said he will try again next month.
No…..dam to dam!!!!Damb!
They finished - apx 2:30 hrs. Only boat that did not finish with the MTI (had to stop prior to the turn around point)Looks like the FASS Wright Performance 420 set the record this morning, 1:39:23, the M CON boat thru a blade but I haven't heard when/if they finished.
After an issue yesterday it looks like the Scism's went out in their MTI this morning and broke the record, 1:37:05...
MTI was a canopy race boat. Most likely the lightest boat and burned similar fuel to the DW.Yep saw them fly by this morning with the chopper chasing them. Congrats to MTI & all three teams for their efforts & donations to charities. I'd be curious to learn the fuel burn of the 390 MTI vs 420 Performance Powerboats vs 368 Skater. They all run 450R. I'd guess the MTI has the best mpg even though they had a much higher mph average. Wonder what the weight difference is between the 3 boats? Guessing the Skater is the heaviest, even tho its a smaller boat.
Predicting this record will last less than a month... One of the big dogs will go out with a few thousand more ponies and crush it.
they race for hours so i dont see why they couldnt do this too. why couldnt a DCB with 1350's avg 120 mph for hour and half?Been several rumors around the lake the BIG boys are all joking about the cute lil outboards breaking records. People way smarter than me would need to chime in if big turbo or blower motors can run that hard for that long. Will #6/8 drives live thru that? Do they carry enough gas?

Now that you own a big power IO boat, you should try it!
ehhh more reliable boats out there.Get Predator over there with those Brummett 2500hp motors. If they can carry enough E85 (Vern said something like 300 gallons) I don’t see why they couldn’t do that if they can get it down to like an hour of running.
They ran 1:42 today. Sounds like guardian mode and a few blades were thrown.Fass 42 Performance Powerboat should be pulling into Neon Taco right now trying to break record again today
Is this a closed course event? Or are they dodging bystanders the entire time?
Correct. I Read it is 188 miles round trip. They just do it early in the morning when there isn’t much lake traffic. I watched Taylor go by our condo at 6’ish am when they broke the record yesterday
You would have to close down the whole lake for it to be closed course.. it’s almost 100 miles each way I believe?
That 368 was in rigging when I picked mine up. It’s not a race boat, so I’d tend to agree with you.Yep saw them fly by this morning with the chopper chasing them. It seems hardware has been the limiting factor, lots of props not holding together.I’d like to see what a shootout boat like P3 could do?
I get his is set up for a “drag race” but running 118 is a very low effort affair for that boat. Think of the time he could make up in some long flat sections at 150-160, which also is not a huge effort in that boat. He’s not even propped for that type of run.
@Duramax
Most failures have been from hitting shit in the water. It seems hardware has been the limiting factor, lots of props not holding together.
Is that normal for LOTO?Most failures have been from hitting shit in the water.
Is that normal for LOTO?
I see lumber almost every time I go out. With the amount of rain that comes down here lots of crap gets washed into lake. Ive seen some scary big chunks bobbing just below the surface. Is that normal for LOTO?
From what I’ve seen on RDP from Bully and the outboard church who run a ton of miles they don’t speak of hitting many things. Then again failures are usually the prop shafts.I’d imagine when you’re traveling the distance in this contest you’re bound to come across something in the water. To break the record I’d wager there’s some luck involved.
Hopefully the weekend warriors out there have some better luck this weekend.I see lumber almost every time I go out. With the amount of rain that comes down here lots of crap gets washed into lake. Ive seen some scary big chunks bobbing just below the surface.

I’d agree luck has a lot to do with it, 188 miles at 100 plus is a lot to ask from a boat.
