Why wasn’t this guy in the shootout? Looks like he could do some damage.

Ive seen them a lot up in Puget sound and San Juan islands....I really really like them for a lake or those kind of waters. A pair of 250's or 300's would be all you'd ever need. (id never own an ocean boat with a single..)
Such a rad boat for the PNW, saw one near Neah Bay at the Straight of De Fuca crushing waves and the wind chop.
We also see a good number of them at Lake Powell too over recent years. A couple of the boat captains there have led me to believe that there are almost a dozen of them frequently on Powell.

I caught this one coming in after a charter for the day, what an amazing boat.

Good to see a 37' being trailered.

Anything smaller like the 28' it's fuel capacity is small at 74gal.... at least the new 29' is a bit better at 105

That’s what I was thinking. Butt hair away from tragedy and dude was not in control of that boat.

Trimmed way too Far up. Tip and a stuff.
Yes this guy was a hair away from a tragedy. He made the decision to push the sticks instead of wheeling it thru tucked in.

Great photos though!

Sam in his 318 Skater. Says he was doing 60-65mph. He also said "thank God I was in a Skater"
Sounds like this 318 will be for sale soon & he will be upgrading to a 368 or 388
Sam needs to buy some lottery tickets!

Need more info on the brand new all white canopied 388 Skater with the giant all aluminum Noonan power. From a standing start in the start box he ran a 170mph. They claim to want to break the all time shootout record of 244mph set 10 years ago by Spirit of Qatar. That’s one hell of a tall order considering the 244mph record was set on the old 1 mile course.

Saying it and then putting it into action are two completely different things. Takes nothing away from that boat and team. Both are absolutely amazing. 244mph takes some serious balls and you’re on the edge of glory or, God forbid, worse.

The wife and I went and test drove one in San Diego a couple months ago. They said they had just delivered their 11th one to Powell the week prior. They had a couple more on order headed there.

The way they babied the start and didn’t get into until half track and the boat only being a week old. Also it’s a purpose built shoot out boat. No cooling through the engines. It will go into the 200’s easily.

It’s going to be a beast for sure. Those motors are Trojans. It stands a good chance of running the number. It’s really cool to see a max effort deal in boating. I’ll be rooting for them.

From what I understand that record is nearly unbeatable with the course the way it is now. When that record was put up the course was longer I do believe.

Either way. That run was insane!!!

Cosker is the only one that built his big cats specifically to run over 200mph. Naval architect. Bad ass rides.

Hard for pistons to outdo turbines. The shorter course doesn’t help. Spirit of Qatar was the run of the decade. Records are meant to be broken though and like NHRA they only got faster with a shorter course. Someone is going to break that record and some are going to wreck shit trying. It’s a fun time to be apart of the boating community.

They’d need Desert Storm’s radar or “starting line” rules. 😁
Did you see Freedom 1 roll into it about 100yrds inside the start and fight a bad hop at 130mph and still hit 170 at the finish? Not bad for the first time in the water and the engines weren’t even in the boat a week ago.

May not touch 244 but I think they will be on American Ethanols ass.

Hell of a cool boat and seems like a fun race team. Impressive runs considering it was basically their test trip. I just don’t know how they get close to 244mph on a 3/4 mile course. Drag cars improved by figuring out how to hook up faster and more efficient. Unless they’ve figured out some kind of prop slip magic.. It’ll be fun to watch though.
Wonder how long they have to wait between runs for the cool down period.

Saturdays rain put us in the car and went bar hopping. Hit up Coconuts which was probably packed on Friday.
Made it to PBC but was closed by the time we got done eating. Tons of amazing boats at the docks though. RD has posted better shots than I could take so I won’t bother.

I was being sincere. My daughter thinks I’m nuts at some of the places we stop randomly to eat. A good Route 66 type sign can be a hidden gem. Hell, I used to love eating at the Desert Center cafe as a kid. That sign kicked ass too lol
My memory is fuzzy, But as a kid we would stop at a place called the pink onion? It was like an A&W type burger place, greasy burgers and fries. It was somewhere along the route to parker, Reminds me of a route 66 type place.

The had a Nickel reflex machine, you drop a Nickel in, it would hold it then drop the it, you would have to push a button to stop the falling coin. If you were fast enough you got your coin back. My Dad and his friends usually had too many beers in them to win. 🍺

Are you talking about the burger place, or the actual cafe, down in town? Both were good, The did a California Gold episode of the cafe.

Sunday raft up was a blast. Everyone out there was super cool and happy to let you tie up.
We donated a box ancher to the lake though. 😳 Struggled with it for almost 2 hours and finally let it go. I don’t think box anchors are good at that lake.

We’ll definitely be back next year. Might have a couple more boats with us too.

Both the burger joint and the actual cafe in town long before it closed. My dad was more of sit down eater so we’d usually do the cafe on the way to & from the river.

Headed out solo this morning. Others are flying home but I’m retired so I get road duty. Going to take it easy and only do about 450 miles a day.

I think I’m going to put my little lake jet boat up for sale when I get home and start shopping for another big twin engine boat. Not sure what though.

Why don't they allow boats under 22 feet to run ?

I worked in Blythe for about 8 months and part of my territory was desert center, I've had many lunches in that cafe Back in the day. It was worth the stop they did not disappoint.👍

Stopped at the Loves for gas. Driver is probably looking for it.

We tried to get off the freeway to bypass the traffic.. maybe take a second shot at getting robbed.. lol

We our back on the freeway now.. lost about five spots judging by some of the haulers we recognize….
