Have any of you ever thought that it would be a good idea to put a center channel marker when you enter and exit the California side where the river dumps into Havasu? I almost got clobbered there this weekend. I would say I was in the middle of the channel and a good size boats is heading right for me he is steering the thing like a fuel boat making a pass trying to decide which side he should go. I was in the middle because as most of you know to far to the California side is very shallow. The boat heading for us had plenty of room to go on the side deeper by the cat tails but took the other side of us and threw his hands up like I was some kind of dip shit. Would a center channel marker help or should there be a no wake zone there like on the California side?

Why not just use the no wake zone? Ever since they put that in place that is the only way we go when heading upriver.

When I was a kid the Arizona side was the only way everyone went. I have tried that way threw the no wake zone and its just another time consuming way as well as the other 2 no wake areas at topock and Devils Elbow. Don't get me wrong those were very good ideas to put those no wake areas there it just takes for ever to get up river now. My idea was to put a center buoy on the California side in the middle of the channel

I think the sands shift year to year so the channel marker would have to be moved all the time?

I've been using the Ca side channal when going up river and the Az side coming back down river. For whatever reason I find myself having difficulty putting myself in the correct position while on the az if going north.

Speed limit won't help anything. The only way to get through that area most of the time is to trim it up and let it fly. As long as everybody stay's to their side there won't be a problem unless you are just cruising along you may hit bottom. I see it all the time going through there, people going slow in their 20' - 23' boats looking down at the water or somebody stopped walking their Boat through there looking at me in a 28' like WTF. If you have doubts, take the no wake zone, otherwise just stay on plane and you will be fine IMO.

How do you stand up and lift your feet at the same time??? [emoji15]

I have always heard that the trick is to lift your feet going through there... [emoji55]

One day some rookies are going to run threw there following each other the first boat is going to plant it on a sand bar and the second boats going to land on top them then we wont have the privilege of running up the river. Im trying to prevent this. The problem is the people that go into the river going north cant run all the way over so the migrate closer to the center and the people heading south into the river think they are to far over but they have to move over to prevent the east side sand bar.
