So by far and away the most cost effective route would be to go with black magics military generator.. are you saying something like this won’t have a voltage regulator on it? Because it needs to power a laptop / a processor for the video wall and the video wall itself as well as an AC unit etc..

Then I was thinking I could plug my motorhome
Or vending trailer into it when I’m using it at shows

His will be clean power. the light tower gensets are really only built to run lights. no real control on volts or hz.

I’m gonna go with that military genset even if it won’t be as clean of an install as what we originally planned (rv genset under the bed).. it’s gonna be another 4-6k minimum for a lesser unit if I go the other route.

I really didn’t want it up on the bed but I’m sure Barker will make it cool somehow

Once the load is on it there’s a knob for the voltage and HZ, when the load is bigger you turn the HZ knob which raises the engine rpm/HZ if needed….you can basically dial in the hz/volts to exactly what you need

Yes. Many large generators are like this. I have a 150kW generator at work that is mounted in the front of a semi trailer that runs our mobile hospital tent system. Same deal. Dial in the power to keep everything happy.

How’s that gonna work when my motorhome
AC’s are kicking on and off?

I don’t think your A/Cs are going to be a problem. If you have an 8-10kW system, once you get it set up it will be fine. Believe it or not, those A/Cs don’t pull that large of a load on a bigger generator. It’s when you try to get by with the minimum generator and have it maxed out is when the problems come up. You are going to want to protect your electronics, though.

It's like adjusting air in a tire. Find the sweet spot and leave it until you have a huge load difference or the kids got their fingers on the controls.

I’m looking for a lightly used rv generator (diesel/water cooled) out of a wrecked rv.. I’d like it to be a fairly substantial one so I can use it to power a bunch of shit if needed.

Where’s the best place to find something like that?
Here you go and they'll ship
