Thought I could hold off on buying a trailer (at the worst possible time) but I need one to store a manx buggy pretty quick.

Everyone knows the story...old beaters are as expensive as new and hard to find. Not much inventory in the new market and quality seems to be suffering on rushed fabrications. Called a couple of factories in Georgia (when large % are trailers made) and lead times were 3 to 6 months. Prices are good, but have to add transport.

Just looking for a basic box....16' or 18' or 20' x 8.5'. Lights and brakes that work, welds that don't break, axles that are on kinda straight and don't fall off are my requirements.

I'd rather buy used quality than new POS, but looking for suggestions for manufactures build a new one that is a least acceptable.

Thx, hope everyone is having a good Holiday weekend.

We're ordering a 8.5 X 24' and unless I want to drive to the East coast, or pay double the MSRP price it's a 8 month wait.

If I were to buy again today I would go with Featherlight. That said, I have an enclosed Carson Racer 20' That I bought new in 2006 and it's been a solid trailer.

Phil’s trailer sales in Waco

Several of us have bought from these guys...trailernut.com Their inventory is NOT current. I bought a 24+4 v nose with the heavy axles a couple months ago for under 7k. It sitting in havasu right now if you want to see it...I added AC and some other stuff since then.

I go to havasu almost monthly..but won't go until Thanksgiving via truck (I fly for Monster storm). If you make a deal I'll work with you on hauling it out to havasu if you cover my costs..im commercially insured.

If you want one of the managers number who I deal with I can PM it to you...Im happy with mine. I will warn you..most are sold before they hit the ground...

Check marketplace around Austin TX...lots of builders here.

If it's just for storage maybe consider getting a shipping container instead

Big Tex Trailers in Beaumont CA just got a load of about 8 enclosed. We just took delivery of a 24' Aluma flat deck over axle for the business. Aluma was kind enough to add it to an order, so my wait was 6 months, as oppose to 1 year. Contact is Mr. Gomez the manager.

On a related note, had anyone made their own drive over fenders on an enclosed trailer?
Any better ideas that shaping a 4"x6" (or appropriate size piece of wood), shaping it, and bolting it down next to the stock fender wells?

Depending on how much weight your talking you could fabricate a center support bracket between the wheels to prevent bending the fender tops.

Thanks for the reply. I have to double check, but I was also thinking the tires will be like 3/4 or more on the wood support and 1/4 on the fender well. So I could make the wood support just slightly higher to reduce load on fender wells.

I've never towed with the rear of the car up on wells like that, but assume if tie-downs are good it could be OK.

Not mine, but this gives you an idea of how to do your drive-over fenders.

I have a 28 CargoMate that's going for sale in a week or so. New tires, serviced everything for a big TX trip. Solar, dual 6V batts, TV, etc.
Just want what I paid for it about a year ago and would be happy.

Ya, its that aircraft maintenance thing I have in the back of my head, lol. I'm the guy who sunk $6000 into a boat trailer before I sold a boat to just have the guy throw it out and build a new one [emoji1745]

I have 2 TPD's and worked for them from 92-94. Built solid and last forever. I put over 10k miles on my 24' built in 1992 every year towing the kids race cars around the west coast.

I had a Intec. The nicest trailer I have ever seen. Fit and finish way above the others.
Priced out a 26' aluminum stacker from Intec, I was well north of $60k and didn't have all the options I wanted.
