Well kids, looks like things are slowing down in Havasu. So its time to have a pool built in the backyard. My questions to all of you is this... Who was the contractor you used? Would you use them again? The size of the pool? The cost? Was there anything you would have done differently? Im looking to build a simple pool, no fire bowls, waterfalls ,or grottoes, maybe a chiller. Any of you have a chiller? Thanks!!!

Desert Storm Pools
We just finished our pool in June. We were told that the pool would be done in 12 weeks and it was right on schedule. Brian was the best to work with. If we were going to build another pool I wouldn’t even get any bids I would just call him to build it.

No direct experience, but a couple of friends were happy with Sand Castle. I also hear Van Rooy is good.

We're in the midst of a pool build with Sandcastle. We chose them because they recently finished a build for our friends in Havasu and it came out real nice, and we liked their design vs. others.
That said, my friends had a few hiccups, with timing, and miscommunication with the subs, and we have as well. I really only experienced some delays in their plumbing. I stay on top of them now, and when they don't show up when I'm told they will, and it seems to have changed and things stay progressing now. So far, all of the work they are doing is very nice.
You can follow along in our build here

Considering the shotcrete or gunite takes 28 days to cure he must be the david Blaine of pools

Dates on these photos are 9/11/19 to 10/11/19. It was what it was. And it’s still holding water. Brian, speak up here.

Yes a pool can be built/finished before shotcrete has cured.
It’s not advised.
Similar to pouring house foundation and putting framing weight on it before it’s cured. Or putting stucco on before brown coat has cured.
It’s 50/50 chance for potential problems.

I have done it, usually because of Occupancy final needing water in pool.

Do any of the companies recommended only do new pools only? I need to redo the pebble deck and tile on my pool and was also looking for someone.

I priced Sandcastle, Desert Storm, and Van Rooy in Summer/Fall 2020. I went with Sandcastle. Started dig in late March and had water in August 2021. This was height of bat shit craziness with pool builds. I was hoping to have water by mid-June but that didn’t happen. Overall I would use Sandcastle again.
