My son said it didn’t look good as well. Announcer was asking for people not post any video they have out of respect. Until more was known. Also said there was an ambulance leaving with lights and sirens. Which hopefully could be a good sign. Prayers to all

Anyone know how to get ahold of the Surf Rat Youtube channel. Just looked and it's on there. Thankfully, not him floating face down.

Just terrible. Say a prayer . Was a pretty bad crash, so hoping he is ok.

City shut down the rest of the race.

That sux, was there all day Saturday and I think he had some issues with the boat. RIP These guys do this stuff for us to enjoy and sometimes it cost them in a big way. Payers to his family and friends. Sad day for the boating community.

Very sad day, I had to leave the races after witnessing this, Happened right in front of our group. Watched it all and definitely will not post the video. Changes will and should come out of this event for the safety of the drivers and the longevity of the sport. RIP Hart and prayers for the family that is suffering.

I was really avoiding checking back in here, I just didn’t want to read that. It’s so tragic, I feel for the family and friends as only someone who lost family to boat racing can.

I never met him, but the stories I heard today from people really made him sound like a wonderful guy, such a loss

Man this sucks . . . as a spectator and fan of boat racing we take so much for granted.
There's so much fun, laughter, smiles, and good times that go on at these events, I tend to forget just how dangerous it can be and how fragile life is.
These guys put there asses on the line so we as spectators can enjoy watching . . . which really tells you how good the people in the race community truly are.
Rest In Peace Mr Hart, you will be greatly missed.

Anyone have a link or can share anything about John? Family, age, a little bio?

I feel an obligation to know a little more about the man we witnessed in his last moments, I don’t want that to be the only thing I know about this man. I’m certain he offered so much more to this world.

We were there with my 10 year old son and my father. I’ve been to many boat races going back to the Puddingstone days. I’ve seen tragedy before but this one hit a little harder being there with my son. A positive memory is all we can have at this point.

John (Jay) Hart was a 3rd generation boat racer. He lived in Havasu. When I met Jay he was pretty young and helping out with either Dads or Uncle's race boats. He was a very polite, easy going happy young man with a zest for boat racing. He and Fred restored grandpa's old Lavey and he brought it to v-drive outings and raced it some. He started driving the Blown brothers K boat a few years ago and proved himself fairly quickly! He loved driving the K boat. Terminal velocity and I have known the Hart family for decades and this like Greg Duff's crash is really difficult for me to come to terms with. Just heartbreaking! Prayers for the Hart Family and Rest in Peace Jay!

Such a tough day yesterday. Jay will be dearly missed. I was just chatting with Jay yesterday since they were pitted across from us. He had so much heart for boat racing. Jay always had a smile on his face and his energy gets yourself pumped to go racing. I knocked on the deck and sides of the K16 thinking how stout she is.

Rest Easy Jay. You will be missed buddy.
