I have had allgeries all my life and as I have gotten older they will manifest in different ways impacting asthma or something else, but I stay on meds and they are pretty much in check. For the last 3-5 years during the summer while visiting Parker; I noticed my allergies flare. Normally it starts with scratchy skin or watering of the eyes, eyes swell. It appears to increase during the hotter months and the number of days I stay. If I am there of three days or less; don't really notice much.... But if I stay 5 days or better...on day 4 I start feeling it with the itchy watery eyes and start to use Napcon or similar for allergic control with the eyes.

I used to think maybe it was something in the house, but we bought the house across the street and it still seems to come up.

We have a place in Mammoth and it does not happen there. As well I travel for work all over the US and it does not seem to be a problem.

I have had DR's evaluate me after river trips and they say it is not a skin rash, or bite or irritation from caddis flies but likely allergic reaction.

I have tried staying on claritin daily and some other allergy meds in days leading up to a trip so I can build immunity but the results are hit and miss.

Not sure if anyone has these symptoms..

One thought folks have pitched to me was trying locally made honey as a natural antihistamine, so I am wondering...Where might I get some in Parker?

Maybe the Jerky place on California?? Been a while since I’ve been there but they USED to have local honey.

I get allergic reactions going out to Havasu. It’s controlled with Zyrtec and Flonase. If I get a flare up I take a Benedryl and try not to fall asleep.

What are your symptoms during the flare ups?

Itchy watery eyes, my nose completely plugs up and crap starts running down the back of my throat. I don’t notice any skin rash issues but I feel like someone poured concrete in my head.

I’ll dose myself again with the Flonase and take the Benedryl. It backs off but not back to normal.

Seems to happen more often when I’m driving around in the golf cart so I’m not sure but I think it’s some kind of plant allergy. Doesn’t happen actually on the water.

I get an allergic reaction at Parker too. Usually makes me a little dizzy, sometimes a bit nauseous, and pretty tired.

Oh..... not allergies. That's from Alcohol. Have you checked if that is your problem too?

I ruled that out....I drink everywhere in a similar pattern...Parker is the only outlier!

There is local honey in Needles open 24 hrs help yourself on the honor system. It is off the east boardway offramp as you start to parker on the 95 about a half mile on your right. Its in a little trailer that sits off the side of the road.

I got some local honey at that donkey town north of Havasu. I can't ever remember its name, but I know everyone knows what I'm talking about. That's what I use while in Havasu.

Move to Moonridge :)

Seriously have you ruled out something in the house? My wife and kid have allergies and they never had issues at the river.

I thought about that… it started in our first house about 4 yrs ago and continued in the house we bought across the street… I can throw a rock to moonridge so same enviromentals… but I have thought about some sort of test of the air purity in the house for dust and others…

Honey from anywhere in the agriculture river valley, Parker, Mohave Valley, Needles, Blythe etc is what you are looking for. It's likely that your allergy is alfalfa (like me). I know there's some good stuff coming out of Havasu Heights but don't feel that will be as effective for you.

Crockett honey is my neighbor (100 ft away) here in Parker. They bring the hives back into town from ag fields in Parker Valley.
They ship it to Tempe for bottling.
