Lightning Boats??? Any info?

Looking to buy this 27 lightning shadow. Owner neglected it and is in rough shape but want to restore it . Can’t find any info on the company. Anybody have info on these line of boats

Lightning has been gone for some time now they are a 05 boom startup and folded in the 08 crash time frame.

I believe it’s an ultra mold? But that doesn’t help you either too.

You will not have any original factory support and will need a third party to support the resto

Looks like the 26 Ultra and there definitely was a connection between the companies. Basically, a very good design, only thing I'd worry about is if it was the same time Ultra had issues with delamination. Lots of guys on here that have a lot of knowledge about Ultra, hopefully they chime in.

They were a knock down version of an Ultra. Interior had double stitch instead of triple, no multi color paint, etc.
When Van Beek took them over it wasn't good

Make SURE that the transom is in still solid. Lightning did a poor job of sealing cuts in the transom. And by poor, I mean NONEXISTENT. Otherwise, it’s a decent boat if maintained.

It was the value brand of Ultra - same boats, fewer options.

Depending on the era, John West might have been the builder.

He has a profile around here somewhere.

There's an Ultra owners group on Facebook, probably a better place to ask. John pops into that occasionally as well.
