Thanks for asking. It's been a shitty ride. She has had 14 of a scheduled 16 chemo treatments, been admitted to the hospital a few times for blood transfusions, etc, etc. Surgery is scheduled for early February followed by radiation. Hoping to be done with everything by summer. She's at the end of her rope with the chemo, it's been brutal.

My wife had breast cancer surgery 6 years ago, followed by 7 wks of radiation. She has been on medication ever since and with regular checkups at the City of Hope she is doing fine.

8 months to the day that I made this post about our lives changing forever, I have some much better news to update everyone with. Laurie completed 16 rounds of chemotherapy and had breast surgery a week ago today. During the surgery it was determined that the lymph node that was cancerous was no longer cancerous and the area where the tumor was looked good. Today we got the call from the surgeon that has been on our minds 24/7 since the surgery............my wife has had what they call a PCR, "patholocical complete response" to chemotherapy, there were no cancer cells in all of the tissue removed from where the tumor once was. They also removed 5 lymph nodes in the area and all of those came back cancer free.

A lot of tears were shed this morning, thank you to all who held my wife in their hearts for the last 8 months.

The road isnt done yet, in a month she is going to start six weeks of radiation just to be overly cautious.

Oropharyngeal cancer of an HPV type is hitting epidemic stage.
Spread by virus.
You can get vaccinated against it.
More common in young men but anyone can get it.
