Early last week we got the phone call that nobody wants to get, my wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Its been a gut wrenching process so far and now we are scared as hell. Later today is a big meeting with all of the doctors involved where we will learn next steps.

Life can turn in a second. We are enjoying are lives like never before, financially and emotionally we are all set, spending about half of our time at the lake, we eat well, exercise, do all the right things, but you still get kicked in the teeth.

My life without my wife doesnt exist.

Im not a fan of people who put personal stuff like this on Facebook so we didnt, but RDP is a bit different, more like family, and for some reason it just feels slightly better to type the words.

Sorry to hear this Walt. I can't give you any advice as we've not had to deal with that, just stay strong and know you have each other to beat this thing.

Walt,

Woman are some of the toughest living things on Earth. Incredibly resilient to just about anything and everything.
I know more than a few good Ladies that bounced back like it never happened.

Stay strong and keep the Spirits around you positive at all times.

I hope that helps any.

Sorry to hear. Try and stay positive and be there for anything your wife may need. Trust me it's nice to have someone next to you through every step of it. Breast cancer isn't the end. It may suck but it's totally beatable. Positive thoughts for you and your wife. And fuck cancer.

Sorry to hear that man. Just remember that there are many cancer SURVIVORS on this website. I say this because when you are first told you have cancer you will "what if" yourself to death. Try to stay positive! The advancements they have made in even the last few years are astonishing. Cancer these days is very beatable. I wish your wife and your family the best.

One-a-day i was in your shoes last November when my wife was diagnosed as well. I can tell you the first few weeks was tough. But once you get your treatman plan it gets better. Fyi... I would highly recommend calling the cancer treatment centers of america. I called them after meeting with our doctors to get a second opinion. After speaking with them they scheduled flights for my family and I that night st no cost to me. If you need more information please reach out to me. They have been a blessing for me and my family.

Walt, my heart sank when I read the title of your thread. Like you said, this site is a little more like family, and you can see the support you have. Anything you need, someone on this board will get it done for you.
As others have said, positive attitude is a must and you will both get through her treatment. If she's been married to you, she can handle anything.
You will have all our positive thoughts and prayers helping you get through it. Don't hesitate to call out to us if you need anything at all.

Walt and EBOG family member:

Stay positive for yourself and especially for her. Been through this with my mom and it is tough. There will be bad days and good days but the import thing is to make the bad days better. Advancements in medicine over the past few years have been astonishing and there is no stronger gender on this planet than a female faced with a challenge. Educate, stay strong, and be positive, this is a beatable disease. Your wife, you, and your family will be in our prayers.

Sorry to read this.
I'm sitting in Debs oncologists office as I type. They brought her back from the brink yet again over the last 4 weeks.

I clearly remember that kick, and the disbelief, and most of all the fear. That was 3 years ago when our call came. We also were at the peak of our enjoyment of life.
That seems like an entirely different universe now.

You must put that fear of the unknown aside. Educate yourself about every aspect of her disease that you can.
How it progresses, how it reacts to treatments, what to expect next.
The people at the top treatment centers are astoundingly educated and commited to this fight.

I don't know the stage of your wife's cancer, but one thing I will say...going forward you will want to always think that the best case scenarios that the doctors offer will be the ones you experience...don't do that.

They may be, they may not be. If things go bad at times don't think it's out of control, it just means a different or more urgent response.

Pm anytime.

So in having spent some time with these two there is a couple things I know...

First, Laurie is a tough woman. She will kick cancer's ass. She will pull the strength from Walt and all of us to fight the good fight. We've got their back and they will win. [emoji106]

Second, Walt is pampered by his wife. He doesn't know his way around a kitchen. So if any of you guys cross his path while they are in this fight, make sure he gets fed!! [emoji13]

Walt as I told you yesterday, if you need anything, let us know. As you see here, you have help to get through this!! Make sure to take care of yourself so you can take care of Laurie.

Fuck...

Walt, get her to City of Hope ASAP!!! This is where Nick Barron went, (the owner of Hallett) after he was given a few months to live by his doctor. It's been almost a year ago now. I talked with him on Monday. He is complete remission and is doing just fine.

Fuck cancer, she can do this!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup:thumbsup
