Nobody does that anymore
Fashion is always cyclical. Just want to be sure that I keep up with the trends. I….opps…..the wife does not want to be caught off guard one of these days.🤪🤪🤪🤪

Is there actually any difference between brands?

I'm told that anything nylon (if memory serves) is fine?

I was also told that low pile will look Much better in the long run.

They guy that cleans out carpets told me this stuff.

Thanks. 🙏

It will all look like shit in the long run.

Go solid surface and put a few rugs down if you have girl feet and need something soft to walk on.

Rugs are cheaper/easier to throw away and replace than carpet.

It's only going in the bedrooms for now.

Can't afford PVF for the whole house, yet. 👍🏼

Can you afford to replace carpet in 5 years?

Buy once, cry once.

We (I lol) had the same issue when we bought this house....couldn't afford to redo the whole house so did carpet in all the bedrooms and living room...it's all fucked and disgusting. I'd rather have plywood subfloor honestly.

If I had more time than money, I'd go dig through dumpsters at teardown sites and grab as much old wood as I could get....then spend the time to pull the nails, etc...and process it through a jointer and then a planer, then basically build a glue lam and chop it into 1/2" or so slices to make myself a bunch of old growth endgrain planks, then lay those down and throw a bunch of poly on it....would look badass and last forever.

…Had my 1944 oak hardwood flooring refinished a number of years ago… Still looks great… Friend of mine then gave me a rug he paid $1000 for…About 6‘ x 10‘… Works perfect in the living room… No carpet here…

Ok one said

Mohawk, Shaw and Dixie Home are the main manufactures. They are all about the same except Dixie Home has more designer patterns.

Nylon is the way to go unless you have a big budget. 100% New Zealand Wool is the best, but a lot of money. Like $100 - $200 a yard here.

As far as Nylon get the solution died nylon. Stain resistant with breathable spill guard. Get the cut pile and the more dense the better.

He also said do not cheap out on the padding. At a min get 8lb and if you can afford it go with the 10lb.

He also said if you want to send a pic of the manufactures tag he can let you know if it good or not.

Most of my family has been in flooring for 50 yrs.

I think LVP is cheaper than you think, there is some good quality stuff at National Flooring Outlet in Monrovia, I used to buy a lot of stuff there and if you buy to much you can return it. I think you can install it yourself and save thousands.

Pretty much the same info I've been hearing here.

Thanks for the update! 👍🏼

Good Carpet is nice AF if you don't have pets. Can't be the cheap dogshit they sell at home depot, you need some high oz weight dense pile. It lasts a LONG time if you aren't a complete savage. Spendy but way nicer in your living areas. So much more comfortable to walk around barefoot on too

We put in Top of the line vinyl plank flooring, at my buds river house.

I'm not gonna lie...

That shit is Awesome to walk on with no shoes. It's never too hot, or too cold. And it's cork backed, so it Almost feels soft to walk on.

Stuff was expensive, but worth it. 👍🏼
