That is why I asking for sure, heard a few guys tell me throw it away and get a new carb.

I used a ultrasonic cleaner on the bowl and parts, but I haven’t tried to put it back on. Next time I have the trailer back at the house I’ll give it a try

Side note. I only had to change out the bowl. I didn’t have to remove whole carb. It’s the stupid elevation adjustment at the bottom of the boat that was my culprit.

If I had to dry camp I have a Yamaha remote start EF4500ISE that we used for the 36' trailer, powered the entire rig including 15k air without any problems and was as quiet as can be, Also have a EF2400ISE that powered either the smaller 13k air in the bedroom or just the rest of the trailer if it was cool outside. Both so quiet and efficient I was amazed. I was always a Honda genny fan but after using these two I have included the Yamaha units as amazing.

I saw in one of the forums that the Champion Parallel adapter for their 3500W unit will work on these.....but I can't guarantee it.

Yea but these predator 3500 seem to be proving they are an awesome generator with quite a bit more power

Some people use the Honda’s on their boats to charge batteries so they can run their 10000 watt stereo for more than 5 minutes :)

Thanks. We don't crank to much music but do sit around d for the day. So I'm looking for an option to keep things charged. Are they running them in the engine compartment and venting the exhaust somehow?

Exactly.

If you don’t crank much music what are you worried about? A dual or triple battery setup should be good.

I believe petty cash runs a Honda 1000 to keep his batteries topped off for chillin’

I talked to the generator repair guy in town who did the warranty work on my Champion 2000. He said the Honda is built much better once you look under the cover. He repairs the cheaper ones all the time and very few Hondas ever make it to the repair shop. Yes the
Champion was half price.

This is true-

The cheapie units although similar in appearance do NOT have the maintenance intervals of the Hondas and Yamahas.

A simple look at the inspection interval on the valve lash is the indicator of the quality of the hard parts.

Now take those hours and multiply that by one vacation use and see where you land -
Lets say you need to run AC a full week while on the road. \
Thats 168 hours in a genset with 100 hour lash inspections you are deep into the interval in only week.

Having to go into the thing 3X as often is lame and quickly overcomes the theoretically cheaper price.

And as for cleaning carbs - Not all can be cleaned fully - and thats not bullshit.

Onan 4000 carbs are not rebuildable and at any Genny repair shop there is a shit can full of them IF you let it go to far you pitch it.

If you are really going to run it - pay the money - get the good stuff.

I've seen some pretty cool setups with a Honda gennie mounted in the engine bay with plumbed exhaust so they can run under a closed hatch...I'm sure some RDPers have such a setup.

I have a Yamaha 2000 that I run under the hatch of the pontoon, with an on-board charger that charges whichever batteries the Perko switch has selected. The exhaust points out a vent in the rear panel, and the compartment has a fan that comes on via relay when the radio is turned on. I put a gallon of gas in it in the morning, and it will run all day in eco mode. Once they hatch is closed, you can barely hear it running...

Yamaha gensets are fantastic pieces of gear, and often superior to their honda counterparts.

I have the 3000iseb with battery backfeed boost to snap over compressor based devices while running on eco mode, great for kicking over Ac units.

I also have 2 honda 2K's When I bought the honda 2K's the yamaha 2K wasnt out - if I had to rebuy Id go yamaha.

Bought a 2000w HF Preditor yesterday. $449.00 if your a club member.
Like to have the Honda, but for the price the HF is Hard to beat. Good enough to push tire warmers at the track 6-8 times a year.

Generator with new warmers = less $$$$ then the Honda.

Gotta keep the tires warm :)

I recently picked up one of these generators for my enclosed trailer and also wanted it to use as a generator to keep my house batteries topped off and avoid putting hours on the big diesel generator that's in my coach.

So I brought the new unit home unpacked it and it fired right up with the electric start and its super quiet! I Decided to try plugging my motor-home in to the generator and try it out before heading out on our next desert trip.

So I fired up the generator and plugged in my coach power cord (50 amp) using my 30 amp adapter and it didn't appear to do anything, my microwave, etc.. wasn't working and I had my inverter off.

I used my adapter for my Motor-home cord from 50 amp to 30 amp- nothing. Then went 50,30, to 110 and still nothing. For shits and giggles I plugged in my shop vac to the gen and it worked fine.

I plugged my MH back into the house power and everything is fine and everything was working so its safe to say nothing had tripped. Checked all breakers on the gen and they were fine. Checked all breakers in the MH and they were fine also. I took the new generator and plugged in a neighbors motor-home which is a 30 amp and it worked fine on his rig so I know all outlets on the generator are working.

I didnt buy the generator to run both AC's, and microwave at the same time, etc.. just want to keep batteries charged and have as a back up in my trailer. Not looking to buy 2 gens's to run in parallel or discussion on why I bough this over a Honda, Champion, etc, just trying to figure out why it wont power up my coach.

I did notice in the breaker panel in the bedroom there is an "ESP- Electrical System Protection" display and when my motorhome is plugged into the generator it says "GRND" on the display with a red light. It looks like their is an override feature but not sure if this is causing the issue or possibly something else.

By now I'm super frustrated because I can't figure out why this thing won't work. So I head over to the IRV2 Website and asked the same questions and within about 2 minutes I had a response. As it turns out these generators along with many others have an open ground system and when you plug your coach into the generator the charging system detects it and won't accept the power- it's a safety feature. To get it to work you have to purchase or make you own "Edison Plug" where you tie the ground and neutral wire together.

So after a few you tube videos I stopped at Home Depot on my way home and spent $5 on a plug and wire. Tired them together as explained in the video and she works like a champ!

I love the power of the internet and websites like RDP IRV2, Glamis Dunes, etc and having the ability to ask questions on web sites and getting answers within minutes.

Pretty stoked on the generator so far, heading out next week so we will see how she works.

i had an on an onboard in my toy hauler and was over the onboard fuel tank maintenance and all the issues with storage so I tried the predator 3500. The unit I purchased for 659 using the coupon in my NRA magazine has 34 hours on it so far I run synthetic oil and did the 25 hour service. It is impressively quiet and charges my house 6v batteries fine and will run my 13.5k A/C and microwave at the same time it is not a 2000 dollar generator so I don't expect it to be but for a cheap unit that gets it done one or two weekends a month I'm cool with it.

I ended up with the Champion 3400 dual fuel unit. The only reason being that it runs on propane or gasoline.

Hooked it up to the toy hauler to put it to the test and it ran the a/c (15,000 btu) and everything else without an issue on propane.

The only thing i didn’t try at the same time was the microwave. No real reason why, i just didn’t.

Wish that sucker had remote start......
I'm looking at the champion inverter 3100, has a remote start / stop key fob. Not sure how it stacks up to the predator on rated power, or noise levels though.

I know.... would be nice if thy developed that technology.
