I am not expert on RV solar, so go easy here if you respond, please LOL
We are upgrading our RV solar system and I am looking for a less $$ alternative to the Battle Born Batteries, which appear to be the best, but they are also big money.
Frankly, can't justify the $. If we were living in it full time it would make sense (and still be a big hit on the wallet)
I am looking to buy two 12 100ah batteries now, and two more next spring to create a 4 battery bank.
Does anyone have any real world experience with something a guy might look at?
There are lots of them on the amazon website, but I recognize none of the names and, well...can't afford to screw this up, to be honest.

Apprecieate any thoughts you might have.

from what i mainly understood talking with friends and online is just make sure they are grade A cells and there are proper BMS protections for overheat/overcharge etc etc, read what the temp ranges are for charging/discharging and operating temps.

I have 2 of these eco worthy brand ones sitting in my garage ready for my winter project.
I have a space constraint so i can only fit 2 of these in my rig.
They also came out with a metal case 300amp hour single battery.

My dad has two of these in his motorhome and has been good for 2 years so far. It came with these when he bought it from a guy in vegas

I have (3) AmpereTime 200AH 200A batteries and they have been flawless. AmpereTime is now LiTime.

Buddy has had them for a couple years as well with no issues.

PS- I also have 750W of solar with the Victron MPPT controller, works very well in combo with the batteries.

Right now we are at 200 watts of solar, going to go to 400 plus next spring.
I appreciate all the input guys. We are hoping to get some of this done soon, in time for OKH, followed by a month or so goofing around down south there where it is warm.

Yeah we have 8x “li time” batteries after watching a review by will prowse who reviews just about everything solar. There’s a deal on Amazon for 2x 100ah for $600. Which is the cheapest you’ll find anything 100ah. And I got a true 100+ out of them when testing. The discounted ones don’t have the big 100amp surge power or cold charging protection but we will never see those temps or have that big of a draw on them.

The Li Time are on the list from my solar guy...young man who is a crack RV tech and has put many systems in. I am trying to educate myself enough to I at least know what the heck he is talking about. We live up in the foothills of the Sierra, and spend a lot of time in northern Nevada. Hoping to move there next spring/summer. We are leaning to the self heating units.
It's just strange looking at batteries where I have never heard of the brands.
I very much appreciate everyone who is replying, and am following up on all the options.
Thank you.

I have 4 renogy 100ah in mine. No heaters as I don't do cold, 2 have Bluetooth to monitor them. I now have 6 100w solar on the roof. Everything works as designed so far, I may go to 2 more batteries sometime just for less concern boondocking with out enough sun.

Renogy seems to be the next best thing to battle born? Sometimes on sale for $499 a battery (100AH)

Seems a lot of people run the li time, would be cool to hear more real word reviews. I have a hard time putting amazon batteries in the rig.... but who knows, maybe they're just as good as the others 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

Outside the box, food for thought;

I built my own using individual 180AH CALB cells, 4 cells combined in series equals a 12 volt/180AH battery bank. and a BMS
I have 3 of these banks for 540AH total for about $2500, incl bus bars and BMS

Lots of good info on the site they make custom banks as well

The downside is brain burnout by the time you get the full understanding, I would have to relearn it all to try and duplicate.

It was the challenge in figuring it out on my own not necessarily the savings that motivated me.
But if you are up for it you can save some money for sure.
