So my daughter and son in law bought a new to them 2021 Ford Expedition approx. 3 months ago. Clean car fax and a really nice clean car overall. Fast forward to last Saturday and they took it to Vegas for a Costco shopping run. On the way back to Havasu just outside of Searchlight they start losing power and hear a "pop"... Son in law pulls over and gets stopped and now smoke and flames are coming up around the car. He opens the driver door and the flames are right under him...he jumps out, burns his leg and hits the ground. My daughter and four grandkids are now trying to get out as well. Luckily after a dramatic struggle with my granddaughter's seatbelt everyone got out safely. Turns out there is a history and recall for this year Expedition for a battery junction box that can catch fire even if parked and key off. https://www.repairerdrivennews.com/...ditions-navigators-expands-recall-population/ I ran the vin number for their vehicle and it comes back as no recalls? It is obvious this was caused by the battery junction box as my daughter has a picture of the box on the ground burning early on in the event. They are now arguing with the insurance company over fair value, rental car etc... So looking for advise/referrals for legal representation and who would you contact first besides your insurance co.
