If you read it you would know that the leeches are at the sandbar in the muddy area. Not in the lake part of Havasu..:swear :D

whoa... we were just having this conversation the weekend of 16,17,18... We were in a cove/shallow area, lots of black mud on the chemihueve side, and my brother found some small worm like creatures. We all jokingly called them leeches, wonder if they really were. YUCK!

we also found three unfertilized soft turtle eggs. ;)

Does anyone have a link to such article regarding the the leeches?

You guys are cracking me up...I can't believe you are scared of leeches. People used to pay good money for a good bloodletting. :D :D

If one gets on you just take a knife blade or something flat and slide under the body and wiggle it around once you get near the head of it. They will pop right off. That's how my Dad taught me to get them off when I was a kid. Took one off my wife's foot about a month ago at the river. No biggie...

I was at the sandbar 3 weeks ago and we walked all the way around it (including the stinky muddy part) and we didn't find any leeches. I've heard from multiple people that they are there though.

Remember all the snapping turtles in Havasu a few years back. The Hospital had a half a dozen cases where people got their toes snapped off:D

That lake is nothing but dangerous:skull:skull:skull

Had a friend of a friend tell me people in their group were hanging in the channel, by Kingsview condo's and had leaches all over their feet after hanging in the water all day. Anybody else?

It's not a rumor. I remember leaches at the river back in the early 70's

Leaches are getting to be everywhere on the lake. One of those cycles of nature.

I droped anchor in whipple bay this weekend and when i pulled it up it had a couple hundred leeches on it. They are not just at the sandbar.

Little Sand Bar. We didn't get them all day moving around on Saturday until we were standing in one spot for quite a while. Got on the boat and it looked like mud spots on my feet up 5-7 inches up my leg. I went to wipe it off and said "oh shit!" They were between my toes too. My wife flipped, it was pretty funny. I think she had the heebie jeebies all day after that.

They were no big deal, but the rumors are true. They looked just like the photo posted earlier in the thread of the lady's foot.

I was hangin out at Kingsview all last week not one leach on me or my friends. I've never had that problem in the Channel with leeches or anywhere else on the lake, saw a few crawdads. Maybe my blood is tainted.

I think some leaches drank all of your beer the last time I was up at your house.

Had about 100 leeches attached on our feet and between our toes on Memorial Day weekend just above grass island on the way up to sandbar... Not cool... Ruined perfectly good cove tail:skull:skull:skull

Yes, Havasu is full of leaches right now, it's really bad. I heard that Parker Strip doesn't have this problem.

I live in Havasu and YES there are leeches and they are not just at the sandbar. You can find them up and down the river. Right across from Body Beach on the California side there are leeches as well. They look like little red thread about an inch in length. We also have Naegleria fowleri amoeba in our lake and if one gets up your nose and into your brain you are dead within two weeks and there is no cure.
