Love going to Glen Helen when time allows. Growing up in Castaic, we used to run to Gorman/ Hungry Valley track on weekends and after class in high school. It used to be pretty popular, well maintained.

Since Covid the state has closed it down and locked the gate with excuses. They spend plenty of money putting up new fences closing off other trails but won’t put any funds towards opening the track.

I’m not sure the online petition will move the needle but it can’t hurt put some pressure on them.

Signed. What a bunch of BS. Close the outdoor track, but encourage people to eat and hold activities outdoors.
The Hypocrisy that developed and people went along with during Covid was mind blowing.

Unfortunately the state don’t care about recreation off roading but they’ll gladly take your money and use elsewhere.

Didn’t know Gorman was still closed either.

Is Hungry Valley, Gorman OHV area closed also? We drove through Gorman recently and I wondered if the MX track was open.

Track Liability is much different today, then it was in 1970.
It was also much cheaper to operate, with more regular volunteers, to keep the cost down.
Unless you lived it, you don’t know what you missed.

I lived the 1960’s early 70’s, in Claremont, Ca. My dad had an airplane at Bracket field. If I wasn’t at the races, I was across the street listen to there engines scream, or doing touch and goes with dad. Many of the racers stayed at a few different hotels in town, and of coarse, they’re running the engines in the hotel parking lots, rattling windows for a miles at night. I remember getting pictures taken of me and my brother with the Sox & Martin crew, in the Howard Johnson’s motel parking lot. They were there for the week, and we would drop by and visit (10 years old). I’m always looking for those photos online, hoping one appeared.

Another track was the Ontario Motor speedway. How something like that could be demoed was very unsettling for me.

Today, if you want that kind of quality, you build a private motor sport complex, and close it off, for members only. It’s certainly not free, but it’s available, if your worthy of a membership😉

Why drive up to Gorman when it’s clearly OK to ride dirt bikes around town?

It may be ok to ride dirtbikes on freeways in Oakland, but around here - it doesn't fly lol
