Luna makes Villanueva look like a conservative. That's my outside opinion.

like everything else in California. Luna bought and paid for . he is just a pawn. for la city council commies.........................................................................................................
Please explain. Why would he have to answer to the city counsel? Isn’t he the highest elected official in LA County?

You are correct but why does the sheriff have to answer to the county supervisors if he is the highest elected official

I know and that's bullshit but I know you agree
Yesh, I can't see how there isn't a checks and balances process for something like that.

But, that's why we live in Ventura county right? Don't have to deal with that crap too much.

Personally I think Villanueva was a better Sheriff. He understood that law enforcement is a para military organization. Did Deputies take that to far? If you listen to the left, they did. If you listen to the the right, maybe not. The tattoo thing was blown way out of proporation.

Does not bode well in any situation that requires defense against the Feds coming in to assert authority they legally do not have in the jurisdiction of a County Sheriff. Like any FBI ATF, or IRS hit squad assassinations, while serving Federal warrants in that County's jurisdiction. Doesn't mean that they will, but they could. Why Federal grants that come with strings are bad..

A good example of this, in JFK's case, the Fed's ignoring the local law that ALL Murder victims be autopsied. County had jurisdiction, the County Sheriff has the legal authority to enforce the Texas law, CCP Art. 49.25. "The Medical Examiner is mandated to determine the cause and manner of death in all cases of accident, homicide, and undetermined death."

Luna acted like a politician before he was elected... hence he got elected... now he's a BOS ass kisser

Alex, definitely not a politician.... Didnt play the game..

Blatantly and publicly clashed with the BOS... IMO he should have kissed ass and appeared to play nice

Sheriff is the lead law man but still has to answer to the BOS... BOS has significant powers in the county ie: The LASD budget (including salaries) and approval of all county contracts. They have the authority to supervise all county entities

Got it. It’s sad to see what is happening to a great agency!

Correct, BOS didn't like him because he didn't jump to their every request. He reminded them that while he is obligated to work with the BOS he is not bound to them because he was elected by the people and is the Sheriff. That didn't go over to well naturally because he was right so they put on the ballet that the BOS has the power to fire a Sheriff at any time and it passed of course. So now being the Sheriff is merely a high paid title no more because if you don't do as the BOS says to do you are fired on the spot.

Yes.... the debacle actually started during the Baca/Tanaka regime....

Luna is terrible anyone that watched what LBPD did during the looting in Long Beach during Covid could have told you he was going to be a disaster as sheriff. It’s no surprise why LA county is such a shithole when you have Gascon as DA the 5 moron BOS and now Luna. A recipe for disaster.

Luna will welcome the Feds in, and the Blue helmets. LA will be on lockdown again by the end of this year. Any, FBI, ATF, IRS, EPA, FEMA, UN, WHO, action in LA County will be supported by the Sheriff, not defended against.
