Now the parade car leaked oil!
Well it gets dark at 5:30They want the race under the Vegas lights. That is the whole point of this.
The don’t run the race in Austin at these hours.

Sadly not in awhile. Way overdue for a trip. I couldn’t even get to my free rooms in Henderson for the past 10 months because of family shit.Seen the strip at 5:30 PM?
I love watching the spectator races at Seekonk on YouTube. That guy with the V-8 powered 4WD S10 Blazer kicks ass.I don’t know shit about F1 ….thanks for the info….followed NASCAR when Jeff Gordon and that whole timeline of racers were around but not really into it much anymore…also sucked when Darrel Waltrip stopped announcing. Used to live 5 minutes from Seekonk Speedway and was cool to see good racing and no names that became big later.
I wonder it the base/ring that the lid sits in was fractured previous to the race? Heavy truck traffic and such could probably do it. Depending on how it was secured, it could lift the housing and lid as a unit. It would be a pain, but if that'sthe scenario, I don't know how they'd check. I suppose they could pull the lids, and x-ray the pipes? He stated that the reports are that the base that the valve cover attaches to fractured. The cover was secure, but when the base fractured it came up with the cover attached.
In the 70’s we used to love going on July 4th. Spec races. Backwards racers. Figure 8 races then demolition derby then fireworks. Great time.I love watching the spectator races at Seekonk on YouTube. That guy with the V-8 powered 4WD S10 Blazer kicks ass.
I used to park my coach against the woods and spend the night, they stopped the overnight thing, no point in taking the motorhome, that was a lot of fun.In the 70’s we used to love going on July 4th. Spec races. Backwards racers. Figure 8 races then demolition derby then fireworks. Great time.
Not me. I tried to avoid the woods except for paths. Growing up there I really suffered every summer with poison ivy. You just had to say it and I got it. Was allergic too so I got major welts and runny pus. didn’t get just the red rash. Fuck poison ivyI used to park my coach against the woods and spend the night, they stopped the overnight thing, no point in taking the motorhome, that was a lot of fun.
Did you ever hear of Nat?..famous engine builder there, still doing spec motors for the track I thinkNot me. I tried to avoid the woods except for paths. Glad out here we only have rattlesnakes. Like them much better!
Forgot to ask. Do they still do the july 4 thing? not that I pay attention but I never hear about demolition derby’s anymoreI used to park my coach against the woods and spend the night, they stopped the overnight thing, no point in taking the motorhome, that was a lot of fun.
No. I went to school with Antone Dias who used to race there. His uncle too I believe Manny. We graduated in 82. I moved here in 83. Looked up Tony a few years ago and found out he passed away but didn’t list a cause.Did you ever hear of Nat?..famous engine builder there, still doing spec motors for the track I think
Don‘t you live in the cape cod area? I went ti school at Bishop Feehan in Attleboro.Did you ever hear of Nat?..famous engine builder there, still doing spec motors for the track I think
I think it may be a "spectacle" type thing? Some may love the high rolling, James Bond feel to the show leading up to the actual event. Some people may prefer the bbq and beer in the infield of a NASCAR event and some, like myself, love the guttural feeling of the exhaust note at a drag strip.Watched the race and it seemed boring except for the battle for 2nd in the closing laps. Wondering if it was worth the money to attend in person
I don't know, sold the coach ten years ago and haven't been back. I like to drink beer and watch the racing but not the driving home part, new to me MH so looking to check it out next summer again.Forgot to ask. I tell people kind of the same thing at Barret Jackson Scottsdale, take it all in and have a good time.I think it may be a "spectacle" type thing? The experience, I think, is what you pay for. The camera work and replays probably give a better view, but it's not the same.
I'm down by the canal, Wareham/Bourne town line.Don‘t you live in the cape cod area? I went ti school at Bishop Feehan in Attleboro.
Nice area. As kids my parents always rented a beach house in Dennisport. The Bourne and Sagamore bridges used to scare the crap out of me. When you’re a little kid those bridges are hulking steel monstersI'm down by the canal, Wareham/Bourne town line.
My Wife has been crossing them every day for work for 15 years now, they still freak her out.Nice area. As kids my parents always rented a beach house in Dennisport. The Bourne and Sagamore bridges used to scare the crap out of me. When you’re a little kid those bridges are hulking steel monsters
That cannot be fun in the summer. Especially on a Friday. My Wife has been crossing them every day for work for 15 years now, they still freak her out.
There was a replay… on ESPN.Kinda surprised they wasn’t any mention of this on any of the local News stations… not a word, no coverage on any of the networks Sunday morning.. I kinda expected a replay at
Least
Vintage cars racing down the strip would have been an epic addition! I'm also just a tad biased thoughI obv enjoyed this event - however there was one thing that bugged me about it.
Of all the races I've been to over the years, I've never been to one that did not have an undercard. No Porsche or Ferrari races / no GT3 etc. stuff / no vintage racing... It was just the F1 cars on the track.
While I'm sure those that have not been to other races didn't notice, I did and I miss seeing other racing.

I was not there but I agree....been to Miami and Austin and the undercards really help stay excited....cause at the end of day the F1 cars are not really on the track that long when you combine the 3 days. I think Vegas going forward will be a challenge unless they negotiate more time to close the strip and the other streets that are part of the course...I obv enjoyed this event - however there was one thing that bugged me about it.

The John Player Special was my Boyhood crush.Vintage cars racing down the strip would have been an epic addition! I'm also just a tad biased though
It seemed like a disaster with the early mishaps, but I thought the race was a good one. The track was boring from a purist perspective but the extremely long straights and DRS kept it close. I’d rather stay up at 10pm Saturday than wake up at 5am Sunday to watch it.I obv enjoyed this event - however there was one thing that bugged me about it.
