Two 60 lb dogs and two kids... unless you're putting the pups in the bed, you're only choice is the large SUV.

I'm in a GX and constantly find myself missing a truck. Dog hair everywhere, and it's wayyy too small for me. The burb fixes some of this, but do you really want wet dogs in the cabin? Plywood or dirty tools banging around? Maybe some wood for the fireplace/campfire? Dump run? Large appliance? Etc.

Most of those situations are where I would break out the utility trailer to keep the inside nice. The dog hair/wet dog situation would be the same in my truck too (neither of them really swim anyways)

Playing around with some of the configurators of Suburbans and Expedition Max's, seems like option for option the Expeditions are much cheaper than the Suburbans. Is that because the Suburban has been king of the space for a while?

My wife has a Yukon but now we always find ourselves wanting a second truck. We are always bringing bicycles, motorcycles etc so the SUV is a pain in the ass and so is constantly swapping vehicles with each other. When the boys were baby’s and you had all the stuff that comes along with that it was great but now they are a little bigger and active in lots of stuff 2 trucks 💯 %

When ever we traveled with our very large Newfoundland, she was always in her crate. For her safety and ours. Suburbans worked out very well for us. We secured her crate up tight against our front seats. In that position our Newf could see and hear us. She was an excellent traveler.

Trailer definitely helps the situation.

It seems like the Expedition may be getting a little long in the tooth. If I had to go for one or the other the Sub with the 3.0 seems VERY nice.

One of each is best.

SUV is great for hauling cargo, people and towing, but when you need to go pick up something big or dirty last minute, you'll hate putting it in the back of a pretty leather interior SUV or having to go grab the trailer. Every try putting a gas can or something smelly in the back of an SUV? It sucks. Or listening to bikes/etc rattle in the back while driving. Talk about irritating. lol Been there done that.

Once you have a pickup it's pretty tough to not have one.

you will miss the truck when you don’t have it any longer. You will not want to cram stuff inside the SUV like a bed of the truck. The SUV is only good for suitcases/boxes, but not a “Home Depot” trip.

The crew cab Fords are pretty damn big, assume the others as well.....

My dogs have been spoiled their whole lives being in the AC, I couldn't put them in the bed of the truck in a camper shell when it's 110+ outside.

Ideally the wife gets a burb and I get a truck, but she doesn't want to DD something that big.
Do your dogs play outside at all during the summer? Yes. They will be just fine in a truck bed and eouod like appreciate the extra room it gives them.

I dont have dogs, but I have 4 kids. I never didn't have a truck until 69hondo bought mine and I had to wait for my current boss to get his new truck so I could get his. I HATED not having a truck, and we have an Escalade ESV (Suburban). It becomes an ordeal just to grab a 2x4 from home depot or anything bigger than 4'. If you ever do home projects or anything of the sort..... you will HATE not having a truck.

Short trips is no problem in the bed of the truck, I'm talking about 6 hours from my house to my in-laws house.

I switched last year from a crew cab truck to an Expedition, main reason was for lake trips ( local and Havasu), almost always have my daughter and 2-4 of her friends plus the golden retriever. I miss the truck for dirt biking and HD runs, but I can deal with it for a few years until she's done hanging with dad. One nice benefit is the shorter wheelbase makes it way easier to back the boat in the garage when its a tight area. I'm sure I will go back to a truck when I'm done toting the girls around all summer, but right now the SUV works best.

They are in the shade with the windows opened and/or cracked. It won't be anywhere near 110 in there on the trip.

So I was in the EXACT same spot a month ago. New baby, 2 dogs, and F250, flat bed, ect. It wasn’t working with the whole family. Kid in back window seat, wife next to him with one dog on the other side and the other dog in the front with me.

So we bought a excursion, thinking it could do all the towing and what not and maybe sell the truck. We’ll now between the two it’s the perfect combo and I don’t wanna sell the truck anymore lol.

Buuuttt if I had to pick one I would probably pick the excursion (for now)

Our dogs are both 60lb, I am leaning towards an RST Burb like pictured above. And Just worry, I will be mistakenly called a soccer ⚽️ mom.
Fixed it for ya! 😁

Those burbs look very nice. I decided to keep my truck for now, and bought a Dodge charger as my daily driver. I think I’ll always have a pickup.

I’m trying to talk my wife into trading her Camaro in for a new Suburban, and she’s not interested. 😉
