Lake Tahoe Flume Trail

Anybody else been on this? Pretty sweet view of the lake. The trail is a section of the original log flume path that transported water and tree logs down to Virginia city from Marlette lake back in the 1800's.

My buddy John who came up from Reno to help us and ride with us. I didn't know where to go.

This is the Sand Harbor beach area you see from above but water level.

Yes, when we lived in Reno I did it often. It is much better on an eBike, due to the climbs. You can string together a pretty epic ride in Tahoe. Mt Rose all the way down into Carson City. Lots of great rides, that is what I miss the most about living in Reno.

You didn't care for Hot August Nights? Reno seems cool or at least the general area. What are the ups and downs of living there? None of us require e-bikes at this stage.

July 18th.

We stayed in Bridgeport on the way up and back. Hotel prices up there were insane for the most part.

If I wanted a workout, I woulda just took my toy hauler!

We stay with a friend at his place near the Casinos. Check out the bear.

My wife has run that section in the Tahoe Rim Trail 100. She loves that area.

Lived in Reno ten years. Left in 2021. HAN is cool the first couple times, but I don't love Doo Wop music and old ladies dancing in poodle skirts. To be honest all the events get old when you live there and so do the casino's and the same rotation of concerts.

The weather is pretty nice with true 4 seasons. There are a ton of outdoor recreation opportunities. Lots of good foodie places and tons of great bars. After Hillery Sheive got elected Mayor, the place took a turn toward the worst. I lived just outside the city in the county which had advantages. Just behind the Airport; Hidden Valley on an acre with a well. Close to everything, but some space.

We really enjoyed living there for the most part outside the wind. I can't really say anything negative. Reno has a lot to offer. We just needed to move to a place that was more aligned with our values, less people, etc.

I miss the MTB trails.

No idea. Bridgeport was Awesome and WAY less crowded.

There are trails all over the area for hiking mountain biking that take you places off the beaten path that a lot of people don’t know about. I’ve lived here since I was 2 other than the 6 years I spent in Vegas for work. I can’t see myself living anywhere else. The town is getting big but the 4 seasons is exceptional. We are 4 hours from Shasta 2 hours from the delta and 45 min to Tahoe. Lots of great restaurants, bars and places to go. Hot August nights, street vibrations (spring and fall), night in the country music festival. There is a lot to do if you are active all year around.

Aside from the music, that sounds about perfect!!! I like Southern Cal, but I'll leave if I can find somewhere I like better.

Spent over 6 months working in Reno in 1996. Was big into mountain biking then. Still have my Klein Rascal. Flume trail is still the most beautiful trail I have ever ridden. At the time there was a single track section that was washed out that someone had put an old box spring section in to bridge the gap. When we were there it was only the metal springs bridging the gap. Slightly sketchy. Wish we would have had cell phone with cameras then.

There's a couple out in Fernley that do races and practice days. This is a track out at Moon Rock that we would groom with a drag on wet dirt days, tons of fun with natural terrain jumps and perfect dirt.

Fernely the sandbox is back up and running. These guys run tracks in the sac area and have done an awesome job brining it back. There are several tracks within a couple hour drive over the hill.

Fernley is 30 min, great track, there is another in Fernely but not sure if it will re-open. The others are just over the hill. There are lots of un-maintained tracks all over the area.

My buddy Ty, was the guy who promoted MX racing in Northern Nevada and built many of those tracks. He has some great stories. That guy knows the finest details about dirt and track building. He is an expert on the water content of an MX Track.

I know Ty, his stead track was bad ass, a lot of people wish that track could get fixed up and running again.

Sections were still intact.
