For anyone planning a trip, the BoR has been holding Mead steady for the past month, Powell is dropping aprox. 2 tenths a day, that's 1 foot a 5 day week.
Don't know how low they'll let Powell go before they start dropping Mead again.
I've heard about this organization before, don't know if they really have much say at this point. There was a study a few years ago that claimed the evaporation was less at Powell and they would keep more water there, not sure if it was ever implemented. Right now my guess is the demand for electricity is greater at Hoover damn and is why Powell is taking the brunt, but just a guess. Pray for snow.If these guys get their way, Powell wont ever be full, and may not even remain a lake:

The evaporation is somewhat significant, but I can't imagine enough tanks, or large enough tanks to make any difference.Has anyone ever proposed building the concrete storage type tanks they are starting to build in so cal, but in Nevada or Utah along the Colorado river?
Obviously you would have to calculate the losses of evaporation between the “tank” and havasu, Blythe, etc.
But I gotta imagine there’s a huge amount of evaporation loss across Mead, Mojave and Havasu.

Do you think they really do have a lot of pull? I figure they'd also get a lot of opposition. This organization was started with assistance by David Brower, the same earth first clown who as head of The Sierra Club, let Glen Canyon go ahead in the first place. So anything from this group should be taken with a boulder of salt...
