Anyone doing it this year?
I’ve been to Powell numerous times but never done the challenge.
What should I expect as far as the boating goes?

Not sure yet. Never done it so I’m trying to see if it’s like ds poker run or just a fun run and everyone goes and does it.

I was planning on it but had a funeral pop up and force us to miss it….

I participated in it a few years ago right before covid hit. I thought it was a great event and pretty well organized. The actual poker run was more like a fun run to me, fairly laid back and everyone was friendly.

I will already be there, will maybe catch some eye candy on my way out town Thursday. Making plans to hopefully get up to rainbow bridge Tuesday or Wednesday.

Expect to have a good time! Biggest drawback for this I feel is that there is NO DANGLING ROPE, which means NO FUEL!

Not sure if you can get a slip at Antelope, but try! Water level came up to the bottom of AP public ramp this year but never enough to open. If you launch from AP, you will need to use the Valet ramp ($50).

The Wahweap Marina services are hard to get in touch with, be persistent. Try to get a slip there (its a long walk to docks, even at AP), I guess just depends where you plan to stay.

The cut is closed, water levels have dropped slightly over last few weeks. Nothing that raises concerns (always watch for hazards).

If you enter they will let you side tie at antelope, not sure if they will have a lunch stop by lone rock due to water levels and the cut not open, but all in all a great time and event! I’ve done it twice, was hoping to go this year now it’s back but already had other trips planned before and after when the news came it was back. Will go next year for certain.

So is it the same as it was years back? Because I’m hearing some conflicting stories?

I’m sure it will be different, it’s been vacant from 2020 till now due to Covid and then water levels. I believe the biggest will be poker run route in my mind. They had a few odd things happen in 2018 that led to some interesting rules in 2019, plus George passing leaves a huge void. No matter it will be a fun event and experience for anyone wanting to go participate or just watch while enjoying Powell! It’s always been a more laidback time while hanging with some big boys lol

Where are the pics? If I wasn’t moving into my house I would be up there because that’s my favorite run of the year. Powell is beautiful.

Im just enjoying my coffee and cigar on the inlaws houseboat. We launched last night at 10.

The Powell challenge website doesn't really illude to any of the information im seeking.

I will post pics if i can snag any.

Walking the dogs this morning at wahweap marina, i didnt see any performance boats slipped... well there was two a shockwave and Nordic but they appeared to be here recreationally not participating.

Welcome to the Lake Powell Challenge . The first rule of LPC is: you do not talk about LPC. The second rule of LPC is: you DO NOT talk about Lake Powell Challenge!

On the flip side, it looks like the whole “Lake Powell is Closed” thing seems to be working!

We had to skip it due to a family funeral but we will be up for the last two weeks of September and then planning on the Ballon Festival in Page the first of November!

My daughter and Adrian are out there. Brian rolled out, I think Steve Lyman in his big Nor-Tech went out. Haven't gotten many pics though. This run always kind've flies under the radar.

Sounded like it was pretty low key.

I thought the run was happening tomorrow but it was today. We didn't catch the actual run but there was a bunch of performance boats running around passed our mid morning beach run.

This guy was slipped just now. Hustler 388 beautiful boat

They are keeping everything really quiet. Had lunch at the restaurant and they are saying the only thing that is going on is at the restaurant. No poker run, National Park Service is on site and going to be watching them. Some cool toys on the water.
