Let’s try and get some RDP members together this year other than the spring fun run and the fall poker run. I plan on being a minimum of twice a month.

Well My friend, you make my Lake Powell set up look substandard! Look's like a great start to the season. Will you be in Powell the end of June the beginning of July? I've invited Lake p.a.l. to come out. My Lake view isn't that beautiful Skipperliner you have. I defiantly can't go as fast in the Lavey but it serves us very well. We set up the houseboat in Rock Creek just on the other side of the cave last year. We should be able to get some RDP people together for sure.

I wanted to say nice transportation to get there. I just finished my FIRC so I'm good until 2020. I always liked the Cirrus, great plane. Enjoy it all sir!

That’s a big concern of mine Paul. I’m thinking it gets a lot worse than Mohave.

Hell yea! I ran both my 21 ft boats there for the past 25 years and one was somewhat low profile . We were out in rough shit too. Just be on your toes.

It's God's country.

We have done multiple trips in our 23’ open bow...jet bote. If you are used to boating on Mohave, and paying attention to the weather, you are golden.

We have ducked a few thunderstorms by ducking in to a cove.

Powell is glorious, if you haven’t been, you have to go.

Love Powell. We do a week in Powell with a house boat every other year. Last time I owned a 24’ centurion roll bar boat and it was great. The only rough water was in the channel. It’s rough but very doable.

Just want to throw this out there... I am very interested in buying in on a house boat on Powell if anyone comes across anything. I would like to own with a good group of boating people.

Hope the flat tire didn't do any damage to the trailer or the boat

We will be there Thursday for the fun run. My Daytona will be on the main channel tied up behind a houseboat that’s my base station.

Looking forward to checking it out! If I didn't have 2 families and 5 kids coming with me I'd stay on the houseboat with ya.. LOL

I highly recommend single engine Boats run with a second boat. If you break down in a Canyon you can be severely screwed.
This time of year better than in the fall. That lake it’s very desolate and it’s so huge it’s easy to get lost. And cell service is spotty at best.

I was talking to the guy at the snack bar at dangling rope marina and he said when the water went down last season a boat was exposed with clothes and human bones nearby. Not sure if the story is true but he got it from the national Park people I believe. Nevertheless getting trapped in the end of a 1 mile deep canyon with nowhere to go. You’re screwed

Yes you’re good.

I saw a guy with a 16 foot Sea-Doo Speedster boat single engine with a tiny tohatsu outboard on the back at dangling rope. Looked like he’d been living out of the boat. Even a kicker works. At least it’s twin engine

You can put any boat on Powell. I see old guys out cruising in a little 12 foot aluminum every trip. You can always launch and stay within minutes of the ramp until you get comfortable. If you just watch the weather you will be good.

Thanks for the info. I surely don't plan to run Powell alone based on what you said and others on here.

You can easily do shorter day trips from wherever you launch. Pay attention, you can run any boat most days. Take extra food & clothes on every trip out just in case.

Stay at Wahweap Resort & take a half day cruise to Rainbow on one of the tour boats, so you can see what the lake is like before venturing too far on your own. Then you'll know what to expect & pick out some spots you want to check out.

Wahweap is awesome.

Powell is so vast with so many places to get out of the weather. A handheld VHF with NOAA weather is a good tool. But, so are your eyeballs. Threatening weather can usually be seen long before it hits. Avoid waterfalls. Often they have more than just water falling within them.

I boated and camped on Powell for years with my 20’ Baja, your fine if you just keep an eye out for bad weather rolling in. When you do and you’re not on anchor (anchor up a Canyon with good wind protection for camping), just head up a canyon and wait for an hour, then back to business. Powell is awesome!
