To add to your statement the reason most people end up in the hospital or eead such as yourself is the attacker is already enraged and wanting to hurt/kill and adrenaline is pumping you were just wanting to de-escalate the situation and buy the time you realized what was going on it was too late.

These stories are horrific and why domestic violence calls are the most dangerous calls that law enforcement personnel respond to. My recommendation would be to dial 9-1-1 and be an excellent witness. Do not put yourself in harms way or endanger yourself or your family.

It was a really difficult situation to be in. You never know how you’re going to react in a situation like that until you’re in it.

That's horrible, and I'm sorry you had to endure that. A serious question though. If given a "replay" of those same events, and still not knowing the outcome, what would you have done differently? Leaving firearms out of the equation, and even with or without a child near. By taking the action you did, my guess is you wouldn't simply walk away, or ignore the situation at hand.

People said they heard screaming the night before, they heard the commotion that lead to the young lady's passing. Even if they made an attempt when things had turned quiet, the young lady may have been saved. She may have had a chance if medical attention was given quickly, or the attack cut short by headlights or sirens. It truly saddens me to think she may have passed away alone, in pain, after her attacker left.

My own choices and actions have never been the greatest. My body is scarred and broken from a lifetime of poor choices. Though sometimes made with good intentions, that was not always the case. I am not exactly the poster-child for a well planned and executed existence. I don't know why some are taken, and others left behind. I try not to question it, but it haunts my mind often.

He was walking his dog when another dog jumped a fence and started attacking him and his pup. I got to them and against better judgment, but not knowing what else to do, I fired 2 rounds in the air to get the dog off them. The dog circled me and another neighbor grabbed it by the collar and between the 2 of us we were able to subdue it. This happened on a suburban street in front of houses and nobody else came out to help or see what was going on. Cops didn't even show up!!!

We live in a different world now and most people aren't willing to risk anything to help another. Sad.

Billy Chermimer killed 22 elderly women in my area. When he went on trial for murders committed in blue Dallas County, the DA declined to pursue the death penalty, and he received an automatic life without parole sentence after conviction. He had also murdered women in Collin County, my home and still a Republican stronghold.

The Collin County DA announced he would seek the death penalty in the upcoming trials, but before that occurred, in September Chermimer was murdered in prison where he was serving the Dallas County sentence.

He might have escaped the death penalty in Collin County too, because in the punishment phase of a capital murder trial, Texas requires the jury to unanimously vote for the needle. If it's not, it's an automatic life without parole. There's always one or two assholes on juries that dismiss the horror of murder and the lifelong pain of the families, and allow the killer to escape what is just and proper.
