Always pisses me of "neighbors heard screaming..." but a construction worker finds the body the next day...

Take a risk, swallow your fear, you may save a life.

I hope they find the scum that did it...and I hope they are put down, not arrested.

Lots of bums passing through that city. Sad state of affairs if it was one.
Pretty sad either way...in a perfect world, this shouldn't ever happen. The world, I guess, has never been perfect, but it seems to be slipping the past decade (at least).

I've said it before. Probably why I'll never have to sit on a jury though. "Some people just need killing".

Whoever did this, is one of them.

This is right downtown - I’d be surprised if they don’t already have video of the perp coming and going from the area.
Hopefully they have the killer very soon.

RIP

They made an arrest

I’m glad but not surprised they found him quickly….

I wish the article had a little more info - is this the old boy friend? Is it a coworker or a random from the bar that night? I guess we will find out over time.

So we have a name and a pic...but that's about the least amount of info I've seen on a homicide suspect. Usually we get employment, age, previous addresses...wth?

Actually, getting involved in these situations is extremely dangerous and not recommended.

A few years ago a buddy of mine tried to stop a domestic situation and ended up being shot and killed. To this day they never found the guy that killed him.

In the summer of 2022 I intervened in a domestic situation. The abuser bum rushed me and I was unable to defend myself. He tried to kill me and stomped me while I was on the ground. I ended up with a broken nose, sub orbital fracture, 3 broken ribs, hemothorax , 6 crushed vertebrae and a plural effusion. The plural effusion essentially collapsed my right lung and I only have about 30% function in that lung today. The doctor told me I bled so much internally that I should not have survived.

When the cops came, they told me intervening in those situations is one of the most dangerous things you can do. More often than not when there is a fatality involved in a domestic situation the person who dies is the person who tried to intervene.

It is most people’s natural instinct to want to help in these situations but doing so is not advised. I’m living proof and lucky to be alive.

Umm, 911 would be helping.

To add to your statement the reason most people end up in the hospital or eead such as yourself is the attacker is already enraged and wanting to hurt/kill and adrenaline is pumping you were just wanting to de-escalate the situation and buy the time you realized what was going on it was too late.

That is horrible, I was lucky to just wake up to a truck covered in eggs baking in the sun.

My LEO friends almost always say domestics are the most dangerous.

These stories are horrific and why domestic violence calls are the most dangerous calls that law enforcement personnel respond to. My recommendation would be to dial 9-1-1 and be an excellent witness. Do not put yourself in harms way or endanger yourself or your family.

I live in a neighborhood that a scream no matter what I'm going to investigate and hope it's nothing, if it is something judgement call at the time, never know until the time comes what I will do.

A concealed-carry permitted gun would have helped in this situation. Arm everyone - attackers will be less likely to shoot if they knew everyone else was armed.

I was carrying a gun on me at the time. I went for my gun and saw my step daughter standing next to me. I couldn’t bring myself to shoot and kill someone in front of my 15 year old kid, I knew it would have f*cked her up for life so I didn’t do it.

If my kid wasn’t there I would have ventilated that f*cker multiple times.

Not sure what would be worse watching my Dad get the living hell kicked out of him or seeing him shoot the guy that was about to do it. I know now how I would feel but understand your decision..

It was a really difficult situation to be in. You never know how you’re going to react in a situation like that until you’re in it.

I hope no one here ever has to be in that situation. It was horrible and there wasn’t going to be a good outcome no matter what happened.

That's horrible, and I'm sorry you had to endure that. A serious question though. If given a "replay" of those same events, and still not knowing the outcome, what would you have done differently? Leaving firearms out of the equation, and even with or without a child near. By taking the action you did, my guess is you wouldn't simply walk away, or ignore the situation at hand.

People said they heard screaming the night before, they heard the commotion that lead to the young lady's passing. Even if they made an attempt when things had turned quiet, the young lady may have been saved. She may have had a chance if medical attention was given quickly, or the attack cut short by headlights or sirens. It truly saddens me to think she may have passed away alone, in pain, after her attacker left.

My own choices and actions have never been the greatest. My body is scarred and broken from a lifetime of poor choices. Though sometimes made with good intentions, that was not always the case. I am not exactly the poster-child for a well planned and executed existence. I don't know why some are taken, and others left behind. I try not to question it, but it haunts my mind often.

Was woke up around 10pm by a man screaming help me, about 50 yards from our house (we live on a corner). Without hesitation I grabbed one of my pistols and ran to the scene, barefoot. He was walking his dog when another dog jumped a fence and started attacking him and his pup. I got to them and against better judgment, but not knowing what else to do, I fired 2 rounds in the air to get the dog off them. The dog circled me and another neighbor grabbed it by the collar and between the 2 of us we were able to subdue it. This happened on a suburban street in front of houses and nobody else came out to help or see what was going on. Cops didn't even show up!!!

We live in a different world now and most people aren't willing to risk anything to help another. Sad.

Wow! I live out in the sticks, so gunshots are pretty normal. Screams? People come out to their porch and take a look. We all know who's who, so if there's a scream that isn't kids playing, we're checking it out. Same thing if someone needs help stuck in mud or snow...help out and get dirty...even if they aren't neighbors.

Justice in this country has been turned upside down. Her family will suffer for the rest of their lives, while after serving a bullshit weak sentence, the killer will walk free.

It's even happening in Texas. DAs hardly ever pursue a death sentence anymore in capital murder cases. But at least when the shitbags are found guilty, it's automatic life without parole.

Well, we can hope he goes into genpop, and gets treated like the new girl. Or, if we get really lucky, gets shanked early in his stay.

Most people here are too young to remember Kitty Genovese. She was raped and stabbed to death while people ignored it.

World needs more of this …..

The shitbag was a karate instructor and had been abusing an 11 year old Baton Rouge boy for over a year. He took the boy to California where he repeatedly raped him in a motel room. He was arrested and extradited back to Louisiana, and the boy's father was at a pay phone in the airport waiting for the police to escort him past.

One shot behind the ear did the job. The best part:

Plauché was initially charged with second-degree murder, but agreed to a plea bargain in which he pleaded no contest to manslaughter. He was sentenced to seven years' suspended sentence, with five years' probation and 300 hours of community service, which he completed in 1989.

From the linked article:

The bartender arrested in the death of a Laguna Beach restaurant employee was charged with murder on Friday, Nov. 17, and prosecutors announced that he used a fire extinguisher to kill 27-year-old Tatum Lee Goodwin.

The special circumstances murder charge gives prosecutors the option of pursuing either the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.

If this had happened in LA County instead of Orange County, he probably would have only been charged with stealing the fire extinguisher and released on his own recognizance.

Last execution in California was 2006 and there will probably never be another one because of democrat control. Life without is the best one can hope for.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the guy's on death row have very few privileges and it's considered the worst time you can do in a prison.

You're correct. Citizens in Texas still strongly support the death penalty, but because of increasing influence by Democrats in Dallas and Harris counties (Dallas and Houston metro areas), those DAs are completely avoiding seeking the death penalty in capital murder trials.

Billy Chermimer killed 22 elderly women in my area. When he went on trial for murders committed in blue Dallas County, the DA declined to pursue the death penalty, and he received an automatic life without parole sentence after conviction. He had also murdered women in Collin County, my home and still a Republican stronghold.

The Collin County DA announced he would seek the death penalty in the upcoming trials, but before that occurred, in September Chermimer was murdered in prison where he was serving the Dallas County sentence.

He might have escaped the death penalty in Collin County too, because in the punishment phase of a capital murder trial, Texas requires the jury to unanimously vote for the needle. If it's not, it's an automatic life without parole. There's always one or two assholes on juries that dismiss the horror of murder and the lifelong pain of the families, and allow the killer to escape what is just and proper.

In Chermimer's case, his celly did what the Dallas County DA refused to do. It pisses me off to no end that these DAs hide behind claims of supposed racism, "inequity", and "police misconduct" and allow killers to avoid what man has dictated as the proper response to murder since the beginning of recorded civilization.

When the subject of murder and punishment is discussed on RDP, I think of @Mr. C and the three young Dorsey boys, who watched their father murder their mother in April 2021, brutally stabbing her over a dozen times. That he escaped the death penalty makes my blood boil.

Michelle Dorsey was found stabbed to death in her Santa Clarita home, while her children slept nearby. She was able to identify her estranged husband as her killer just before she died, according to authorities.

James Dorsey, who authorities say drove from his home in Washington state to commit the murder, pleaded no contest to the murder about a month later. But controversy erupted when Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon did not file special enhancements in the case.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Barry Hall, a homicide detective, had expressed outrage that prosecutors didn't include sentencing enhancements that would have allowed Dorsey to be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole if he had been convicted of all charges.

ThIs shitbag received a 35 to life sentence, and instead he should already be in an unmarked grave after getting the needle. Gascon is a piece of shit.

We used to joke that Texas Death Row has a fast lane,
I'm a simple man, eye for an eye seems fair.
