Just announced they cannot get their insurance renewed. This could be the last weekend open if things don’t change quick.

FYI, the litigation he is referring to was brought on them from the owner of X-Brand goggles, due to his son crashing at the track…
I was literally just talking about this a few days ago. I think they are pieces of shit for suing the track. We all know the risks every time we throw our leg over a bike. Someone like Rich has been racing his whole life and knows the risks involved. Now if it would have been someone driving a water truck across the track and he hit him that’s another story. Just using that as an example because that happened at Glen Helen a long time ago and it was the first thing that came to mind.

Sad to see the track go. Nothing beats the good ole days when Jack owned it though. Lots of great memories growing up.

Funny you mention this and Glen Helen....my son had a race there a while back and one of the workers didn't put the brake on their SXS while attending the track. The Yamaha literally moved down the hillside into my truck, but could have easily taken out a child. It was an issue and I'd prefer not to comment on it, but I learned a lot about the backend of that track in my research.

Funny, I've been saying the exact same thing, including using the water truck example. Rich claimed that the track had a dangerous section, yet still sent his kid out to race knowing of the danger. LACR's insurance issue will sadly lead to the demise of more MX tracks in California. The state is already in an insurance crisis and this will not help when insurance is already ridiculously high and insurance companies are leaving the state.

This is one track my son will miss. I hate the drive up there and you can't take a child to any hotel in the area as they are homeless encampments, drug dispensaries or hooker dens, but the people at the track were great, the dirt was always really good, and they had some cool jumps. My son would hit the stepup on the main over and over even though he couldn't clear it on an 85. Just watching him hurts my sternum.

We used to race my son’s dragster at LACR next door and it closed years ago when Granite needed the gravel more than the drag strip. I was glad they kept the MX track open for as long as it has. I have friends that race MX and with Elsinore MX closed this makes this even worse. It’s sad so many race sites are closed over the years.

Back in 2008-2011, they used to run the big down hill blind, jump face was about 50 feet back from the edge, hit it and sail half way down the hill, made my stomach turn watching my 18 year old intermediate do it lap after lap.

When I moved to AZ there were 4 tracks, now we are down to 2. 1 lost from development the other insurance. Tough business model.

I know of AZ Cycle Park, what’s the other track?

It looks like we used to have a bad ass compound to the north of us that must have closed 5+ years ago.

Its a bummer to hear for sure, I hope they can get it resolved.

LACR has always been a great track, and I feel like they have always gone through these challenges for as long as I have been riding. They always seem to figure out a solution and bounce back even harder.
