Does anybody have any recent news about Konocti? It is supposed to be remodeled and open but I can't find any info. I do know that they put in new docks.

I'm thinking with the water rising it might make a fun weekend trip this summer.

I was there about 4 years ago and it was filthy. Looks like that place could have a lot of potential if the lake wasn’t so gross.

There were ownership issues going back decades. Looks like there's a new player.

Yes the website looks like it's trying to reopen but there is no real info on the website. Not even a phone number to call.

And yes the water can look funky in some places but out in the middle it's not that bad. It's a warm shallow lake which makes for lot's of algae.

In the mid '90's that place rocked, I had a place on the water in Soda Bay and went to the amphitheater and indoor venue every weekend. Many drunk nights. So sorry to hear it went to shit, I believe it was part of the pension program for the SF plumbers union.

We have a big project going in Konocti. I’ll do some snooping when I’m down there next time.

Correct about the plumbers union. I was about 5 years old when they started building it. We had family friends with a house in Buckingham Park. I remember watching the buldozers grade from a boat out on the lake. Ironically what closed it down was problems with the sewage pipes.

So it's supposed to be under new ownwership and being remodeled but they don't seem to be doing a very good job of advertising.

Was a good place back in the 90s and early 2000s when we were up there for ski racing with Region 1.

Run a full day of racing then hang in the boat with some drinks and food and listen to the concert coming out of the amphitheater.

We even did some non racing trips with the family but honestly haven’t been back in probably 20 years.

There was a good Italian restaurant up there somewhere (not at Konocti) as well at the time.

That is funny, the plumbers union being shut down for plumbing problems.
As I remember Mazzola was the pres. when it went defunk and owes the labor pension fund many million$$$'s

spent a good amount of time on that lake my family has been in oaks area full time since 81 iv been to konocti plenty of times always enjoyed the atmosphere and there is great bass fishing right out front. don't think it will ever be what it was or even close, a lot of big money has walked away from that lake through the years. look the entire lake as a whole and you will see where the money is not spent. everything from local restaurant's to hotels/ resorts around the lake just look despaired or even closed down. really hope there is a rebound up there soon and it helps the locals with jobs and some money to go around. that's our fishing honey hole have yet to catch fish that size or as often any where else.

I have a vacation home on the lake. My own launch ramp and dock. Lake county is the poorest county in Calif. Someone will open a restaurant then the fires come and close it down. Then Covid came and no visitors. Then no water in the lake. It is pretty hard for some one in business to stay in business. I have a guy that gave me a quote for new tile floors. He said it would take about 6 days to do the demo and install. 25 bucks an hour. He asked if that was OK or he could go lower if it was too much. Work all day on your knees for 200 bucks. Personally I think a bonus is instore for him. I also got a quote for a deck 20 bucks an hour. These guys are hurting and just trying to stay afloat. Kinda hard to haggle them down at the prices they are willing to work for Just to feed themselves. Then there are the shitheads and methheads. Thats a whole other story. The Konacti restaurant is now open, gas dock is open and store is open. They had a pretty big remodel job to do. they have delayed opening for a couple of years but slowly it’s coming. Should be lots of job opportunities for those that are willing to work.

In it's heyday, Konocti Resort was the place. We used to stay at Willow Point with my Mother's side of the family (picture 20-30 boats and 150-200 people taking over the resort) and we would always caravan down to Konocti several times during the 2 week annual vacation. It was also a mandatory stop at the hotspring spa's which are now closed down and destroyed. My sister and I would always have to stay on the lower dock to fish while the adults went up and partied. I was told later in life that it rivaled Sundance in its day. I hope Clearlake comes back to its former glory.

Sounds like they haven't got to the part where they are renting rooms.

n2otoofast4u would appreciate any info you can gather.

I do sort of have roots on that lake. Learned to ski in Buckingham park. Cousins family had a place in the Oaks. They are now in Paradise Cove. Did a rental house in Kono Tayee. And did stay at Konocti a few times.

If you stop in at Konocti see if they will have rooms available this summer.
