I tell my kids all the time
"I spanked you cause I love you"
You will understand what I mean when you grow up or have kids of your own.

I have 1 daughter working on her Masters
Another Daughter working on her Bachelors.
And a Son in the Navy.

Im sure Ive fucked them up in my own special way--but think they are all on the right path.

Kid being special needs does not allow him special rules. They need to conform and abide just the same as the rest of us.
Society and Parents need to stop being so soft.

I agree and also disagree. Special needs kids should have some "special" rules, but set within the guidelines of those set by societal standards. It may seem as being more strict in ways, but it's to allow some integration into society.

Those "special" rules are probably more for the parents and caregivers. If the kid is a risk for doing damage to other's property, more care and guidance is needed to keep them from doing so. Just like keeping a young child out of the street, it's more on those "in charge", than those at risk of harm or doing harm.

I'm sorry, but that kid should've been ripped off of there and restrained and the parents should be embarrassed enough to never set foot in there again.

I doubt if Costco enforced "you broke it, you bought it" Parents should be held accountable.

Don't take him into stores if you don't have control, sorry.

Knew a couple that had a special needs child from a vaccination brain fry. The kid was always a handful but, controllable. He was 46 years old and you could see a change in his eyes. Like he would look right through you, laugh under his breath then smile. Made the hair stand up on the back of your neck. All of us that knew them said there was something wrong. Ended with a kitchen knife in the middle of the night. No one got a big cut but, child went to special care. When you're fucked up in the head, you just don't know what's going on in there. Some members here come to mind.😉

Special needs do get special rules. No they don’t get to toss TV’s but they do get a bit more rope so to speak.

My son is on the spectrum but I refuse to label him as such because I teach him like any other boy would be taught.

But sometimes I let him get away with shit I normally wouldn’t.

Man dealing with mentally ill children / spouses opens up pandoras box. I feel bad for King Kong and his parents / guardians, but they should never have allowed him into the store in hindsight. I wish we had a federal and state mental healthcare system that could deal compassionately with people with mental illness and help them, but we do not and have not in a long time.

I agree children with special needs do deserve extra grace, extra time and patience.
If KidKong was kicking and screaming on the ground and Parents were there holding and helping him--I would not look twice. Destroying someone's property--gets no special treatment or excuse. We both agree on that.

My neighbors son is on spectrum--pretty bad. Like he is 16-17yo and likes to strip down naked and chase after the ice cream truck. He is a genius at Lego and animals especially Dinosaurs. Good kid and we help out when Dad is at limit. No Mom in that family now--she died last year of Cirrhosis.
