I tried to get the wife to do this...she did not go for it.You could take the small boat to the sandbar on Saturday.Hope to see you there Tank and also would like to meet up with AJ and of course river diva.Oh ya and Dave.

owner of the boat said the marina would absolutely not allow that. we r calling the marina this morning to get a slip.

So we have called and they said no possible way to side tie.. They have no slips. We have called about 20 places in the surrounding area, from flea bag motels that happen to have docks to resorts etc.. and everything is booked short of some place that has 4000.00 a night rooms.. (no shit)

Any advice on where we can put the boat?

Or if we skip the boat and rent the car, anyway we can get out on the water without spending thousands?

I think its farther than that and add another hour just getting out of his neighborhood (mangroves) and in to open water. Did you check the weather, that trip crosses into the gulf. Its not like running down from Miami along the keys the whole way?

For whats its worth, i think it would be way less stress taking the ferry out of Ft myers. Might what to check in to that as a plan b.

The boat is not even finished yet and we might break it this weekend anyways if it is even in the water by then

Dave as of yesterday Ocean Key resort had rooms starting at $645.00 4 night min.The races run right front of the resort.The Marker is water front also.Room rates are $835.00 3 night min.We are staying there.I booked a few weeks ago and was given a lower price.Still its the most I have ever spent on a room and I have been to some nice places.
Have you tried Stock Island for a slip ?? Not to far.You could uber or cab it to town.
If you drive down I am in for some bucks on renting a boat.There are a lot of boat rental places in Key West.I was thinking of renting one as I do when I go to Marathon but it's just the wife and I so still on the fence.

We took the ferry out of Ft Myers last week and I think it was about 3 1/2 hours. Leaves FM 8 am, KW 6 pm.
It has a bar and it's a jet bote!

No I meant running down in a boat on the poker run. It takes all day and that's running at 80-100 all the way. It's the stops that make it a all day thing. So 3.5 hour straight shot doesn't sound bad at all. Especially with a bar!!
