Kawasaki test track

Any of you Corona locals ever cruise by and just watch?

In the early 90s I lived in Elsinore and worked in Mira Loma and on the way home if I saw dust in the air as I pulled up I-15 I’d pull the old yellow Jeep right off the freeway into the dirt shoulder and just watch these guys shred.
It was a Lot! more “rural” around there back then.

Yep constantly watched mack in the 90s early 2000s. Drive by it still everyday today.

The other manufacturer test tracks are close by as well. But not easily visible like kawis, rode around on dual sports up to hondas test track back in the day with rickie fowlers dad Rod and saw a few guys running including Mcgrath hanging out before he went to kawasaki ambassador

A bit more up the road east into the hills and you’ve got the rest of the test tracks. I used to ride my Yamaha Zuma scooter up there with my buddies and watch them test. One day the gate was left open not a soul in sight. I may or may not have ridden the KTM track haha

Honda, Suzuki and I think it’s Ktm are on the east side of the 15 fwy. Not that hard to find.

At the time all of that land was owned by Corona Clay. I believe Jeff Ward's father-in-law at the time owned Corona Clay. I seem to remember one of the big dirt bike magazines did a big article about the whole operation and how the different teams used it. MXA probably.

Use to live in dem houses right next to it around 2006-ish.
Always stopped to watch people do cool shit I can't do.

Anytime supercross was in town you would see the tracks active the weeks before.

I worked for UDC homes back then right next to the track at Wild Rose Ranch. I'd always stop by and check them out. It's not there anymore is it?

The KTM/Husqavrna/gas gas track is easy to go watch them practice they have three tracks. I here them all the time surprisingly close to town and houses.

A lifetime ago, I ran with this crowd a bit. Spent some time at all of them and was always amazed at the hours of actual testing that went into these race bikes, and the smallest details that mattered. Wont lie that it was pretty cool sitting at a track, and a couple guys on a bike ride up to throw down a couple laps and it would be the other factory guys. They also used to rent out some sand tracks in Aguanga when the nationals were starting. Waded up good enough at one to remind myself that i didnt get paid to do that like they do. I think i actually became an adult that day.

Danny Thompson had a test track close by up on the hill. I went there a few times when Danny and Rob Mac would test the 2 Ford stadium trucks for the mickey Thompson series.
