Allstate notified me two months ago that they're canceling my $315 a year mobile home policy at the end of January, I'm on the CA side of The Parker Strip.
I literally signed my new CA Fair Act policy 3 days ago, now I'm paying $1,350.

I just got notice today that allstate is jacking my auto policy another $700 and I'm in Arizona.

This seems to be their game, looks like it's time to shop around

KTLA had this guy on TV today talking about insurance, it doesn't sound good, and he clearly doesn't have a lot of confidence in CA Fair Plan.

If you had normal homeowners and got cancelled you should have researched if you could have gotten a high risk policy before the Fair Plan.

The high risk is at least a comprehensive policy.

If you can't get that, don't forget to ask about a DIC policy if you want the comprehensive coverage as before.

It’s not just California.

I’m 30 minutes south of Seattle. My homeowners was $4100 in 2023, $5300 last year, and I just received the renewal quote at $7300.

We also insure 3 cars; a ‘97 Porsche Boxster (my wife’s garage queen), a 2018 Volvo SUV, and a ‘23 GMC Canyon. We drive about 10k miles total annually, and the premium is $4k. Seems ridiculous to me.

Oh, and I have quake insurance at $1300, which sounds pretty good…..until I consider the $200k deductible.

I have a call scheduled with our broker tomorrow.

$5,600 to California Fair Plan for fire and $2400 to Bamboo for everything else. A lot less than property taxes.

I'm insuring a home that can easily be mistaken for a Tuff Shed.
If the cost goes apeshit we'll self-insure.

Stubborn neighbor won't clear his brush so I go up there with the weed wacker and clear it.
A weed wacker I had to buy in Nevada because our Governor banned them here.
Close enough to put our Insurance in peril.

AAA has inspectors roll by and see that there is no Vegetation near the home and no vines growing on the structure.

I have a place in Fort Mohave

I emailed my Farmers agent that I have quotes for the same coverage with lower premiums elsewhere.

He came back with 2 options.

1 was to sign up with foremost for 1k a year

Or

Stay with farmers, but Reduce extended replacement coverage to 125% vs 150%, but that would only save me 20 bucks a year.

Progressive wanted 1800 bucks a year

Current premium is 1480.

Yea cut your coverage and we’ll lower your premium.
My Umbrella went up 86$ a year when i added the new sxs to our coverage. So they got me for 960$ a year for the sxs policy and that 86$, crooks.

Just under 1800.00 a year in Everett WA with All State, 2300sq' home valued at about 1.2M. Due to divorces, no boat, trailers or diesel tow rigs to insure. My personal rig is on pay by mile and bundled with All State but have a company truck and gas card, so auto insurance costs are about 1K a year.

You must be in the possible Lahar flow of Mt Raniear? If not you are being ripped off.

I’m jealous. I’m in Pierce County, my home value is about $1.3M, and my insurance is 4x yours. I talked with my broker yesterday, and she’s getting new quotes with higher deductibles. I’m sure I won’t get it to your level, but hopefully at least closer to last year’s rate.

We’re on high ground, so we’ll be able to see the Lahar bury the Puyallup Valley from the back of our property, but we’ll be fine. We’re not in a mudslide risk zone, and our ISO fire rating is a 3, so not too bad.

Ripped off? Perhaps (it certainly feels like it!). The broker did say she thinks with higher deductibles, and shopping around, we may save a couple thousand.

We’ll see what the broker comes back with. In the meantime, I’m going to check out Allstate, and perhaps a couple of others that our brokers don’t sell.

I have to install 6 water heaters, 12 mini splits, 3 aluminum patio covers, and replace 1 capacitor at 10 PM in August to cover all my insurance.

My sister in law lives in the Canyon Country section of Santa Clarita. Her home backs up against a hillside. 2,200 foot track home built n 1989.

She told me her homeowner’s insurance was $10,000 this year.

2k a year with Mercury for a 2400 sq ft. home in Yorba Linda. According to the city I'm 1 block south of being in the high fire zone where I would have had to replace my new roof with a more expensive fire rated underlayment when I re-roofed my home a few months ago.

Would be a shame if during an earthquake...a gas line broke and caused a fire....

This happened to one of my neighbors. The insurance gave them some time to hire a contractor to pressure wash the roof.

I did it a couple years ago. Kinda sketchy up there to be honest. Sprayed some cleaner and coated with a mold inhibitor. The entire neighborhood has it on the north facing areas. Mine is 98% clean. We requested a review and were denied. The google earth pics they took are grainy as hell and BS.

Seems like a good opportunity for a new startup company. Drone applied zinc for moss / mold control.

Maybe lucky.. or bend over in the near future

"Very High" fire zone in Ventura County...

State Farm for 45 years, no home claims, couple auto claims, all "not at fault". .... Frankly no complaints, always treated me fairly

Just reviewed a updated home info last November.. ie: new roof, new patio, new windows, minor remodel, added firearms etc.. And bumped deductible to 2k

7k/year. included is
4 cars, (2 drivers)
Motorhome,
Umbrella,
Home Owners (no earthquake)

(Homeowners is 150/mo)

few years ago, SF denied boat renewal due to 2 claims.. now with Progressive, about 400/year

I went back a few years to see how much of an increase we have experienced. We did file a claim for a leak in 2023 and it is the only claim we have ever filed in all the years of owning a home.

2022 $2014
2023 $2561
2024 $4342
