I admire Peter Besenyei, that guy is an awesome pilot!Extra 330 sc is top of the food chain.
My fellow country man Peter Bessenyei has a Extra 300, Edge 540 etc.... he did quite well with them.
He was the first pilot to fly inverted under the old chain bridge in Budapest. That bridge is super low, he has the fly as close as 2.6 meters to the water.
Love this one, taking off from Elisabeth bridge in downtown Budapest
Eye of the needle flight
No more? that is a nice quiver of aircraft right there!
I am having a ball flying this extra, biggest RC I have flown yet, and performs really well, it is overpowered with the DA100cc twin, but its best kind of overpowered! , and having an airshow quality smoke system is a new experience, but so worth the price, and installation and cleaning!Nice to have an extra of any kind!
Looks like a fun job though! I would love to be able to do that for a living but alas time has passed me by lol! I love to get out and fly whenever I can, but time and money is limited. the Extra330sc fell in my lap so to speak by a co-worker that had to move out of state and was desperate to get rid of it, if not for the deal, I would never had bought something that big. but damn I love flying it! you have had some beautiful fixed wing and helis!View attachment 677829 View attachment 677830 View attachment 677831 View attachment 677832 View attachment 677833 View attachment 677834 View attachment 677835 View attachment 677836 View attachment 677837 View attachment 677838

I flew big time and got sponsored by DA, Composite-Arf, Jet-Cat USA, to name a few, but then I got a job flying the real expensive planes in Afghanistan and slowly stopped flying RC for fun. Mainly because I would be deployed for 4 months at a shot Flying everyday then on my R&R I would only get 14days to see the family and friends, the last thing I wanted to do was fly RC with my limited time I had. So I shelved it all...that was back in 09!
I really love flying RC though! It’s a lot of fun and I’ve met some good people along the way...here are a few of mine over the years!
not very long, I only have a 6 oz. tank in her for now, I think I am going to find a 12 oz. tank in the future so I can have double the time, but for now I get about 3-4 minutes out of 6 oz.Great flying. How long does the smoke system last for?
I fly at 2 fields usually here in SoCal, Hemet Model masters, and Fallbrook RC which is directly across the street from Harrahs Rincon Casino in Valley center Ca. I am currently the Vice President of Fallbrook RC Flyers. I want to bring my planes to Havasu one of these days and fly with the locals. I also want to do the float plane fly in at London Bridge in November, I have 2 planes, and may have 3 on floats by then. I always bring some float planes to Parker, and fly off the river every trip! I love taking off and landing on the water, its a fun challenge! and I may be off on my smoke timing numbers, but I am only running a smoke tube to one of my 2 mufflers, and I have the rate turned down and mixed with throttle of course, it does not come on until its above 50%.I’ll answer the question regarding smoke systems.
Simple answer, how big is your wallet because it isn’t cheap at all!
Another question to ask, how many minutes and how thick do you want?
If you are running a modern system with a 100cc engine you can get away with 32oz of smoke oil tank, that could get you 2 mins of thick smoke!
Most ppl use www.superdri.com which is the exact same smoke oil as the full scale aviators use in their show planes.
Cost will determine how much and how often you fly with smoke.
At 55 bucks a gallon or 165 for a 5 gallon and 1550 for a 55 gallon Drum,
A 32oz smoke tank, per flight is about 8 dollars.
Now comes the fine print, if you want big smoke there a few tricks to get more volume but it really comes down to your setup, increasing the pump speed will obviously pump more smoke oil into the exhaust and therefore giving you more smoke in the air, most pumps now a days will have a variable speed so when at a low throttle you won’t be pumping too much oil which will just make a big mess out of your airplane.
In my experience you can get 2 to 3 good minutes of smoke out of 32oz if you are adjusted right near perfect.
In practice for competitions I would practice my routine “4 minute freestyle” without smoke for the most part, getting the maneuvers timed to the music is the hardest part of that kind of flying.
Then when I think I’m ready I would fill it up and go!
Out of the 4 mins of flying I would usually have big smoke for 90 secs, off and on when it will maximize the effects of the maneuver.
Like dude did in his vids, on off, killer effects!
Flying smoke you want to pick that perfect day really, low or No wind, and blue sky’s! Nothing grabs your attention more than seeing a sky writer performing on a blue sky some killer flying!
Keep them videos coming!
And where do you fly? We have a site here in Havasu, lots of Giant scale planes out here in Havasu
Love the angle of the camera on the wing tip, I will have to try that sometime! great flying also love the turbine!I made a video of my RedBull Extra doing Aerobatics on the deck! No smoke system at that time, and I didn’t have any outside video when I made this vid.
Still it’s fast and onboard an RC
It’s not that great if video, but if you can imagine this was taken years ago, and not many people are willing to put their GoPro cameras taped to the outside tip of their airplane and go 100+ mph on the deck!
NO BE SCARED....just put that engine in set it up and punch the throttle! where are you located?I started trying to learn with a cheapo Nitro Alpha trainer and I finally had so much extra balsa glued to it from crashing that it was 2 times heavier than it started. I tried everything I could to learn that thing and just couldn't get it. I have since got my Private Pilot license and in my opinion was way easier to fly the real thing as I could keep up with it and not lose my spatial awareness as I did in the RC plane. lol
But as always I was so sure of myself I went ahead and bought ahead of myself and picked up a Giant Air Tractor (custom 92" I believe) that I have never pulled out and put the engine and electronics in. It even has the spray boom and all on it. just couldn't take the chance of wadding it up on first flight.
No but I try to get into Dynamic hobbies in Hemet, Bob runs a great place there! You guys ever been to Pegasus Hobbies? Used to frequent them quite a bit.
