After a couple months of doing this the waitress said I’m not waiting on you guys anymore because I’ve never gotten a tip. They couldn’t believe it but then found out one of the guys would collect everyone’s cash and pay with his credit card and he would pocket the extra cash and leave no tip.
They made it right with the waitress and the credit card guy never went with them again.

It depends on the group..... If its a smaller group with only a couple people paying, everyone drops a card and split the appropriate 1/3, 1/4 etc. If its a larger group, cash is king!
it its a smaller group, I commonly try to quietly pick up the check.

Nothing wrong with using the CC. I use cash to tip. BUT, a man must have some cash at all times. It's part of being a grown up. Plus, the best deals that pop up out of the blue require cash. You never know...

My wife and I are not big drinkers and we usually split one appetizer and one entre so there is zero chance I am splitting a large party bill evenly.

I actually hate the group thing. I would rather not even go. There is always a guys and girls ordering multiple appetizers for the table, rounds of drinks for the table, and then they say we should split the check evenly at the end....

I'm either picking up the whole check on Credit Card to be nice or I'm tossing at least double my bill in cash on the table and telling everyone else to figure it out and leave. On my way out my wife and I palm the server a cash tip and apologize for the shitshow the bill will likely cause.

F that; when I'm off the clock, we're splitting evenly and I'm letting the server run the numbers, regardless of who eats or drinks what. Thanksgiving weekend decided to fuel up at one of the gas stations out near Salton Sea. Guess what? All the CC machines were down, cash only. After yanking around 50’ of motorhome & trailer loaded with toys no way was I going to another station.

If out for a week on a trip, I carry enough cash to cover, even if I use the cc.
Right now I got 8 bucks in my pocket and I feel really poor, oh wait I am. When I get home, 3 miles, I'll replenish. I do have wallet money, but that's different.

Whenever I go out, I bring cash. When I'm ready to leave, I'm ready to leave. I hate waiting for them to get around to running my card and bring it back to me...on a busy night it could be 10-15 minutes. Also, my credit card info won't get stolen if I just leave cash. I don't lay it out on the table for all to see, I tuck it in the little foldy thing and hand it to the waiter/waitress so it doesn't grow feet.

At work we eat meals out three nights a week, breakfast, lunch and dinners, our group is a cash deal, Its always the total divided by the number in the party with a decent tip added to the top, Always cash. No matter what you get we split it and it usually always works out, The tip is usually enough that next time we come in the wait staff is scrambling to serve us.

Also staff appreciates a cash tip they don't have to claim if we are generous.

When we go out with friends as a large group I always tell the wife, watch we are gonna be short, and more often than not we are. Not because they are cheap, they just don't tally what they ordered. No one figures in taxes or enough to cover drinks & Tips.

Yeah always carry both,never know. Went to Jason Aldean concert couple months ago in Laughin were huge lines for drinkins. People in front of us finally got up and ordered a bunch of buckets of beers and cocktails,then bar tender tells the "only card no cash".
