If you look right now, you'll see Saturn parked directly under the moon, and over in the western sky Venus is either close to the horizon or it has already set.

Tonight Mars will be closest to Earth since 2003 and not as close again until 2050. It will be big and bright.

There's gonna be a full "blood moon" lunar eclipse tonight, but it won't be visible in the US.

Mars will be so close to the earth tonight it will be easy to spot in the southern sky. You'll be able to see its red color with the naked eye.

Mars is awesome tonight! Closest in 15 years, bright red and beautiful. Below and to the right of the Moon. And off further to the right is Saturn. You can see both clearly without any devices :) Be sure to take a look!

Been traveling since Wednesday and lost track of what day it was. I meant Saturday for Mars, my bad.

I scoped Mars last weekend, with the planet wide dust storm it made viewing disappointing for as big as it is. Saturn is at a nice angle for seeing the rings.

Google Sky Map is a great app. Just point the phone's camera at the sky. All of the major stars and constellations are named. It's also cool when you realize how often the planets are visible in the night sky.

We’re here!
So are we. Sitting at bar inside

So we ended up going to a buddies house warming party. Stacy walks right in to the back yard slips and busts her ass, destroyed her phone (won't even power up), and sprains an ankle something fierce. We were supposed to go walking around the mountains tomorrow so that's officially cancelled.

Now I'm kinda bummed I didn't go on the night run! Would have loved to meet some new members and shared the adventure on the way home!

Hope you guys made both directions safe!

It's not a journey, it's an adventure! (stop at all the sandbars and revel in the fact you are living life when everyone else is sleeping!)

Just went outside and it’s 2:30 something and the moon is still not all the way up.

I hope you went slow and safe on the way home! That had to be a pretty dark run

Well lets say that our 1st official unofficial rdp event was a success as in we went and we made it back but there wasnt any moonlight to speak of or idling.

Met up zermenojr and his buddy at Topock came up with a plan of attack for float home. As soon as we turned the corner out of Topock those ideas went right out the window. We were just speaking inside about the last time we were both cought in a monsoon and that wasnt happening again.

Zermenojr and us made it back and well definitely meet up again !

Saturday was a great day! We started up in Cottonwood Cove and made our way up to the Hoover Dam! Black Canyon is by far the most scenic part of the river north of Parker Dam. We put the boat on the trailer and headed south to Havasu. We launched at about 6pm out of Windsor Beach and headed for Topock at about 720 pm. We arrived at Topock in time to eat dinner and meet up with Hawgty55 and his crew. We left Topock just before 9 pm and followed Nick and his crew through the Gorge and back to Windsor. Thankfully they came prepared with flood lights and spot lights that made the float back a little brighter, considering the moon never showed itself. We made it back without incident and just as I pulled the boat out of the water at 1030 pm the wind and sand started blowing pretty good.

Huge shout out to Hawgty55 for letting us tag along. Clearly this was not their first rodeo!!

Looking forward to the Dam to Dam trip this weekend!
