Philippe’s is all about the experience for sure, it’s super fun to go there.
I do actually but the place you are talking about was outside my response area. We liked Yellow basket, H. Salt fish and chips and The Great Steak and Potato Co on 190th as well. If we covered a little north we hit Astro Burger. You guys really like Diana's. I'm sorry I've never got anything good from there. They use to order it at work and we had to tell them no more. There is a much better green wet asada burrito across from Santa Fe Imports. Taqueria la mexicana
Agreed about the experience, it's good but for the same price you get waaaay more pastrami at The HatPhilippe’s is all about the experience for sure, it’s super fun to go there.
My good friends family owned that yellow basket and a few others. His sister is still running 1.I do actually but the place you are talking about was outside my response area. I think my parents knew the fam/owners. Grew up around the corner from there and Dianas just north of Sepulveda in Sun Ray Manor off Main.Yep. My Moms favorite pizza place. Got to get a antipasta salad with it.
You get way more everything at The Hat.Agreed about the experience, it's good but for the same price you get waaaay more pastrami at The Hat
I think the 2 meat Breakfast burro at Carson burger is pretty solid, been hitting it for over 30 years. My good friends family owned that yellow basket and a few others. His sister is still running 1.
I use to go to that great steak often when I was living that way. Been a while. There was a BJs kabobs on other side of Walmart from it that was bomb. But the rent increase chased them off.
South of there on western I would eat breakfast burritos all the time at Fantastic. My AYSO coach as a kid owns. Recently burned. Hopefully he rebuilds. I have no go to for quick breakfast.
Here's some Hot Wheels for ya....Mattel colleagues as in Hot Wheels? Do tell more
The La mexicana place is by my work on Santa fe and pch. John's though is by my house. And yeah that place is great lots of varietyIs that close by your house. Sister is not to far from you by Los coyotes and spring. I will hit it next time I am there.
Eastside Italian Deli 1013 Alpine St. LA Best Italian Also killer PastramiFor the enthusiastic eaters in the crowd. Did the bi-annual pilgrimage to Johnnies today to meet some Mattel colleagues for lunch. The place did not disappoint.
Same staff, same quality. Always a pleasure.

High school friend from Notre Dame usually stops on her way through town.Nobody goes to D’Elias grinders in riverside on university!? Still big sandwiches and not to pricey!
HA ~ My mom LOVED their bread. All about the bread…
I spent 23 years working at a tool & die shop near 223rd & Avalon and had many breakfasts and lunches from the 'Basket. Had their phone number burned in my memory and was on a first name basis with most everyone there. Mid-80's thru early '00's.My good friends family owned that yellow basket and a few others. His sister is still running 1.

Giamela's is goodWell... let's bring in any Burbank peeps and flare up the Santoros/Giamela's debate.....
The roast beef sandwich at Santors is my all time favorite. The owners are a really great local family too.
Goamela’s is my favorite pepper steak but I’ve never had Santoros so I’ll give it a try this week.Well... let's bring in any Burbank peeps and flare up the Santoros/Giamela's debate.....

I remember when Phillipe's raised their price to $2.25 everyone had a hemorrhage.Phillipe's the only place in LA you can have a mediocre dip and share your pickle with a homeless guy! If you have never been I will admit it is still an icon, and back in the 70's & 80's was super cool, but now it is just an icon with many fond memories.
I'm a pastrami whore and have the clogged arteries to prove it.

Special notice to PSC (pasadena sandwich co) - incredible sandwich's, the Del Mar an amazing choice & Buzy Bee is my favorite hole in the wall.
But this last one was a surprise to me and many here may or may not know the place, Rebel BBQ in Blythe, right off the fwy on Lovekin, next to mcdonalds, there food overall is fine, but he sprinkles crack on his pastrami, some of the most tender, amazing shit this fat guy has ever tasted! I go there and buy it by the pound, take it home and bbq burgers for the crew and put this heavenly moist meat on top! He has it outsourced and will not reveal his place. Its not your normal pastrami, it is on a level by itself. Almost to good if that is possible. My mouth is watering just typing this response.
Pepper Steak with mustard, the bombGiamela's is good
Don't go, read my post, not that great, hell I've had better pastrami samiches at Fantastic CafeNeed to try Johnnie's. Working in PV on the pedro side this week. Been grabbing pastrami sandwiches from Busy Bees.
I go to the one in Pedro on Western Ave, and Westmont. Teresa Sardisco is my neighbor, her family started Dominicks. Was there Friday night, they had a fundraiser with proceeds going to Taper Ave, schools robotics class that's going to Dallas, Texas for the world championships, so we went to support the team. She custom made me Rigatoni with Alfredo sauce, a little garlic and sausage pizza topping sprinkled on top. (-:Yep. My Moms favorite pizza place. Got to get a antipasta salad with it.
That pedro fantastic is meh. My old AYSO Coach sold it many years ago. The one He still owns on Western and Del Amo is the bomb. But it burned down a few months ago. And just sitting. There pastrami is good. Ordered it often. Mainly went for the breakfast burritos. They did have the best chili cheese fries around. And the chicken salad with ranch ask for a extra side of ranch is dam good. Hopefully they rebuild. The son had burger city grill which was great. Changed it to eat fantastic and it went to shit and overpriced. The best burger in Torrance now is old Torrance across from LA Capilla at Local Kitchen.NEW YORK DELI IN TORRANCE OR BUSY BEE IN SAN PEDRO FOR ME

Is that the place next to the car wash? If it is, I've heard their samichs are pretty good. Every time I think of stopping by I'm towing the boat, the place doesn't look maneuvering a trailer around up there so we by pass it. Going next week and I'll give it a try.Famous Philly's in Fort Mohave/Bullhead area definitely did not disappoint last week! I wouldn't go out of my way for it but if I was passing through the area and was hungry I'd make it a point to stop, and wouldn't think of going anywhere else

Corned beef, forgot about that one@SPFRONTMAN the corned beef at New York deli is bomb also. And they have the best pasta salad. I remember when he was building his house and having issues. I helped him out and got free sandwiches for like 2 years. Was eating there constantly.
Busy Bee parking has always been there issue. But it has not been crazy packed since they raised prices. Torpedo used to be $5.50. I would get a pastrami and grab a Torpedo for late day snack.
I have been hitting the Bonellos pizza in Pedro. 2 slices salad and soda. But also been switching it up for there torpedo sandwich. Add pepperoni for a $1. Much easier to park and not as far as busy bee. I have a job on centre. But it ends Tuesday.

One on Western and Del amo also that burned. By Smog City brewery. At one point I think Alex owned all of them. That was 30 years ago though when he was my soccer coach . His Son has 3 locations that were Burger city. Pch and oak, Torrance Blvd and Artesia in North Torrance. The city slicker burger was off the charts until they changed it to eat fantastic.Fantastics are in San Pedro, the one that burned down, one on Narbonne north of Lomita Blvd. and one on Cherry Ave. and Wardlow.
Where is it? Not Tommy's in Wilmas.I'm surprised Tomboy's wasn't mentioned...I haven't really found anything that comes close.

I just looked at their menu and see a N.Y. Style Pastrami samich listed. A good deli samich at a fast food burger joint? Never would’ve thunk it.I'm surprised Tomboy's wasn't mentioned...I haven't really found anything that comes close.
Manhattan beach blvd just west of aviation, and there another one on Marine under the metro rail.Where is it? Not Tommy's in Wilmas.
You mentioned it, here now for a late lunchFantastics are in San Pedro, the one that burned down, one on Narbonne north of Lomita Blvd. and one on Cherry Ave. and Wardlow.
I think he is talking about “The Hut”. Two locations in AZ. Bright yellow Photomat sized building. They have pastrami. It was ok, but it isn’t The Hat.No carwash that I remember seeing. 95 just south of Valencia.
4320 hwy 95 to be exact

Ha, you must be local if you remember that tittie bar, I worked for a general contractor that made us go there Friday, payday once in a while to pick up our checks and drinks were on him.One on Western and Del amo also that burned. I buy lunch every day so have eaten a lot of places. My go to lately is Fanoos grill on PCH in harbor city. Across from the old run down titty bar just east of Western. Beef or chicken koobideh lunch box is $9 with a coke. Used to go to the other location in rolling hills Plaza once a week. The steak kabob lunch plate is great also. Best quality food for the price. They just opened that location so not sure how long the lunch specials will last at those prices.
