Whats the asking price? Miles? 4cyl or 6? Great little around town jeep. If you plan on off roading it be aware that you will need to upgrade or replace all the running gear! Looks like fun.

The ad didn't say what motor. He's at 2k
It's got 173k miles on it.

Up here the frames rot out behind the rear spring mounts.
Salt on the roads just destroys everything.

I'll give it good look before I pull the trigger...

But I am bringing a trailer along :)

Get quality - invest in quality and save yourself from spending more replacing stuff down the road. Dealer had mid line from a quality standpoint (Rubicon Express) already installed on a JK I purchased and almost everything has been upgraded in 2 years. Granted I paid .25 cents (my cost was less then same lift - component not including labor from shop) on the dollar for the lift since the Jeep was sitting on the lot for 9 months.

Educate me please, that front bumper design, what is it designed to ward off ?

Evil spirits! :D

It's called a stinger bar and it's to help prevent front roll overs when descending a steep hill. I'm redesigning my front bumper to incorporate a winch mount and am thinking about making the stinger hinged at the bottom with a hydraulic ram at the top. That way if I end up like this guy I can extend the ram and flop my ass back down. :thumbsup

So far, I really like this bumper. Is a precut kit you weld together. It's all 3/16" thick. Not sure I'd put the receiver in it though. Thinking about something else recessed there instead. Only thing I've found out with all the reading so far, is the rough country lift kits aren't that great.

You might be able to use a merc trim pump to run it. Nice little self contained hydraulic pump ya know? Thought it's rated 1100 psi one direction, 800 the other?

Thanks for that :thumbsup I never would have guessed it, but after watching the vid, it did its job !!

Hell if you're adding the hydraulics, add an arm on each side and you can be self-righting :D

I'd put the receiver in it, with a very large drop hitch for moving your trailers around the yard.

It should be named H3: Headless Hula Hauler

I was going to put a mild lift on mine, but really didn't do a lot of heavy off-roading or rock crawling.

Plus, in reading all the Jeep forums, the usual questions that came after what lift to put on, were questions about how to get rid of the Death Wobble.

Cherokees work great and depending on where you live can be had cheap...there getting pricy out here.

Get full frame stiffeners to sure up the unibody before you hit the rocks.

The hard parts on the rough country stuff is good and there customer service is hard to. Eat but there joints and leafs aren't great. We have upgraded my dads joints to Currie joints and replaced the rear leafs with deavers. The RC stuff will get you in the air cheap.

It took about 5.5"of lift and a shit load of fender cutting and aftermarket fender flares to clear 33's while fully flexed. 31's will work with the 4.5 kit on stock flares if bumped properly.

Jcr makes nice bumpers and armor that's what we put on my dads.

My dad's worked extremely well and went everywhere on 33's.

He flopped it on the Dusy in July and did quite a bit of body damage. He's not one to drive a cut up trashed so I started looking for a new xj to swap over parts. Took about 5 months but I just found him a super clean 00 limited that was owned by an old couple. Flat towed behind there motor home and only had 84k miles.

Time to make it bigger and better...new wheels and 35's this time. IMG_8687.jpg IMG_8660.jpg

That's the exact kit I put on my dads. Replaced the shocks with bilsteins pretty fast.

It flexes good but like mentioned the joints will blow out fast if abused. Rc warranty was good and they replaced the joints twice before we upgraded to Currie Johnny joints.

What I will tell you is plan out the build and be realistic with where you are headed. You will save a ton of time and $$$ doing it one and doing it right.

If you eventually plan on running 35's and building a hard core crawler start with parts that will work moving forward [emoji106][emoji41]

Cool. I plan on using it more as a "hauler" more than a crawler. Lol.. I want the lift more for not banging my head when I get in the damn thing. I'm used to driving a super duty. Gotta jump up in that one. ;)

Take a look on the Cherokee forums. Lots of different options out there depending on budget.

Clayton long arm is bad ass if you have the cash.

Look at rustys stuff as well.

This is a 2000 also. Sport edition. Headliner is a little sketchy, but otherwise the interior it in really great shape for a 16 y.o. jeep. Planning on a sbc conversion with a TH400 trans. It has the n.p. 231 transfer case, so it shouldn't be a problem with the swap. I'll post more as the build continues :)

Look at the iron rock off road kits. Good people over there.

I run a rubicon express long arm on my grand cherokee with no complaints.

How much work is in this rig...? It looks bad ass. Was there a lot of welding involved in this one..?

I know absolutely jack about jeeps, but we are looking for one to keep at the river. Keep going back and forth between a Bronco, or a YJ (we have 3 kids..) or a cherokee. Your dads cherokee looks awesome!

He has a lot of $$$ into his jeep.

Sleeved, axle upgrades, gears and air lockers in the front and the same in the upgrade Dana 44 rear.

Only real welded on pieces were the frame stiffness and rock sliders. I did pretty much everything else in my garage. I designed the rack and a shop built it...that wasn't cheap but it's bad ass.

Much much cheaper to buy someone's project where they have 20-30k invested.

I don't want to know what my dad has into his over the years...lol

Built cherokees go for 10k ish you just have to find a guy that built a mall crawler. IMG_8839.jpg

After the flop.... IMG_8840.JPG

Well, after replacing all the factory battery cables, she's a runner again. Everything was corroded all to hell.

Got plates, registered and insured it, been bombin around all morning with it. Drives pretty good! Radio sucks. Lol..
