Who’s building aftermarket parts?

What’s it’s range, compared to a 392? (My 5.7hemi gets 14.7mpg )

Will it weigh more or less, fully loaded, with full fuel and full charge? (Comparison)

Will is cost less then a Speed?

I’d like to see them roll it @ Moab when it’s unveiled, just to see how those batteries handle it.

I don’t think there are gas stations in the middle of no where. So probably a lot less then a diesel Jeep. But I might be wrong. Need to see the spec’s.

Electric usually has more torque then a Diesel engine. Apples to apples.

That’s really not horrible considering it’s as aerodynamic as a block wall.
My old CJ5 had a 350 Chevy in it and got about 9 if there was lots of freeway driving and less with city driving through the gears.
Was a mild deal, L82 cam stock intake etc.
I’m sure it weighed much less than yours too.

You can carry extra fuel in a gas can.

it’s hard to recharge a big car battery out in in where. Even batteries in toy haulers with solar won’t run AC units or recharge an electric car! So they come with a gen set.

I think it’s a great idea but need a better way to recharge it when your NOT at the Mall crawling over speed bumps and curbs & Shopping for black socks at Macys

just like driving a testla to the river or anywhere actually …. how do you recharge an electric car when it has no juice way out in Tim Buck 2 at night on the side of the highway?

tow it to a charging station? Jump it with a battery pack?

If you run out of fuel in BFE, you run out of fuel.
Tow truck shows up 5-10 hours after you give them a call, and either brings you a fast charge, or 25 gallons of fuel, or tows it out.

Towing A Tesla At 70 MPH Replenishes Battery At Fast Charger Rates

This has been attempted multiple times before, but we’ve not seen it done at highway speeds or for such a long distance as in this video.

I have done the rubicon. I ran out of gas on the last trip. One gallon of gas from my spare gas can and I was able to make it out no problem. Took me about 15 min to get my jug unmounted and dumped into the tank. If I was all electric I would probably need to be towed out.

For the Day Tripper that wants to feel good about traversing through the environment I think It's totally badass. But other than the feel good moments, I'll stick with a basic gas or diesel run Jeep and be thousands ahead in cost in the long run. Looks like Moab will be getting some rapid charging stations in the future.

I hope they do a real world test out there. Run it until it dies. It would take a lot of the speculation out of these things. For the type of wheeling I do, I don't need big HP. A nice little 4 banger with the right gearing and transmission will get the job done just fine, but you still gotta love the rumble of a V8 at times.

I know the EV's have massive torque, but I wonder if the could also gear it, like a compound low? This would allow you to place less load on the motor, and speed up any type of regen braking on downhill. It could be interesting. The problem with most electric vehicles seems to be the same, majority of the engineers are brilliant, but very few "motorheads" passed the classes.

Until battery power can replace ICE power they won't. EVs now are a list of compromises and the question for each driver is what compromises are you willing to accept.

Other than torque and quiet, an electric Jeep has too many compromises for me to consider replacing my Gladiator

It will be interesting to see how it handles river crossings. Water intrusion is hard on any vehicle.

It won’t need a specific air cleaner to keep the water, sand, and dust from damaging the fuel system.

Good point. Motors too. i assume they’ll be at each wheel like other EVs

After a weekend of mudding I would often hose mine out.

I would imagine the batteries are sealed. To me it would seem you would worry about the same as you would with all the electronics running in the newer models.

The concept EV Jeep had a 6 speed manual tranny, same has in the 2018 model.

I’m sure I was doing something wrong. I’m not a professional off-road mechanic.

I was told later, I needed to prep it with silicone, to seal it up. I sold that Jeep, in the 1980’s.
