When I was a toddler my grandparents drove me to the river in Cadillacs and Chryslers. At 16-18 I was driving the family Olds station wagon or a Road Runner/Super Bee with a trailer hitch. Never an uncomfortable trip.
Then my buddy bought new in 1979 a GMC dually with all the bells n whistles.
That boys and girls, was a whole 'nother level of luxury. They really do make towing a boat across the desert a pleasure.
He still owns that truck and is currently building a 600+ci motor for it.
No comment on the gladiator, but if you get a Colorado/canyon you should know you probably should re-gear it and if your boat is wider than the vehicle, tow mirrors are about 600 bucks piece. The one I have has 33 inch tires and it’s constantly downshifting to maintain speed. Even in stock form, these trucks were under powered and over geared. I’d see if you can borrow one to see how it’s gonna do firstAnyone tow with their Gladiator? Pondering a new mid size truck, Canyon, Colorado or Gladiator etc, to tow our Hallett 240 bc 1/2 ton truck prices are insane![]()
