Look on the bright side, you won't have to repeat your order five times just to get a burger and fries.

Touch screen all the way.

No shit!!!

Self check out will be everywhere once that happens. And by that time, the technology will be available so you won't even have to scan your items. Just run em though some tag reader deal.

Can't wait till this goes into effect! :thumbsup

Yep, been irreversible fucked for years already. All its going to do is kill more jobs and pave the way for more automation. The only people it will really hurt are those working at minimum wage.

This is really going to screw kids.

The part timer or college students looking for entry level or fill in work while in school or finishing school.

Who's going to hire someone with zero experience for $15.00 an hour when you can have your choice of experienced workers?

Restaurants, car washes, small businesses. Prices for everything will have to go up.... making things less affordable for those at the bottom.

Right there is the kicker...

The way I read it, it says only FULL TIME employees are subject to the raise. All that is gonna happen is there will be no more full time employes anymore! Everyone will be part time. No insurance. No benefits. You'll have to actually have to EARN a full time position pretty soon.

The people that put this into place are just dumb.

So the people making $15/hr now...do you think any of them are not going to kicking and screaming for a raise. I busted my ass started at the bottom at $7/hr if they get $15 with no experience I deserve way more...I can hear that playing out over and over...FUCK CA!

it's that way now Joe, to be salary you must make at least double minimum wage or receive overtime.. the state Dept of Finance estimated this week the increase will cost taxpayers $3.6 billion more per year JUST in pay increases of government employees..

everyone is thinking fast food but the real pain comes when small businesses can't afford to keep salaried employees and everyone goes to hourly part time, no benefits...

they are moving a sweat shop across the street from my shop in vegas...supposed to have 300 sewing machines, and run 24 hrs....:(

guess the garmet district is gonna get hit hard...

calf. has so many people that don't give back to the state..and get money for doing nothing...
that ship is sunk now... the state keeps figuring out how to get deeper in the pockets of those that do work and pay taxes...so most are pulling out of there...

Funny you say that...

They just put one in right behind our shop as well. The worst part is the parking situation we have now!!! I had to ask em to move their cars constantly. It seems like they have finally figured it out. I must have asked the right person last time, cause they don't park in our area anymore.

Couldn't have said it better. Try explaining this to a liberal. They dont think it will harm jobs and think it will actually create jobs.

Shit, I was working in a tire shop making $9/hr and right about 35 hours a week. Basically netting $1,200 a month 3 years ago. I was able to provide for myself. Granted, I had almost zero disposable income but, that's what a minimum wage job is suppose to be! Barely enough to pay for yourself. Not a family of 3 or 4. But, that's what these fucking idiot liberals in this state think. Feed the bottom more and it makes the gap smaller. They have ZERO understanding of inflation and how it affects other aspects.

This will have a huge effect on the underground cash economy. It will be the only sector of growth at the expense of the traditional economy.

Plus will only cause more businesses to leave the state.

You are going to make them all part time. Then explain to them exactly WHY it needs to be done! If they are minimum wage workers, they probably voted for fucktard moonbeam, thinking he was going to help them out. :point

I haven't worked for minimum wages since I was 18 maybe? Who does that anyway? Make yourself valuable, and move up.

Cheap assembly labor @40hours a week plus ot. Most of them make between min and 12$ bucks an hour. So I have to look at the details maybe part time is the way to go and hire a few more to pick up the lost hours

Didn't businesses already move to part-time to avoid paying health insurance ? Yep, make yourself more valuable ...

This is precisely the reason I thought this would not get passed. Jerry Brown was grumbling about it as well. Perhaps he will veto it?

Won't minimum wage people get fired and replaced with $15 hr people?

Won't this put more people on unemployment or welfare when they lose their job?

As long as the government is in control and not the free market we're fine. They know what's best for us right?

Sounds to me like the scab unskilled contractors will now need to compete for work against real tradesmen. With housing and gas in California how can you even exist for under 20

They will be complaining next that you need to cut their hours so they can still get their welfare

Ahh yes.... there is the ignorant pro-union statement that had to come out. Cause all open shop trades hire unskilled workers that have no idea what they are doing.

<----- non-union, pretty highly skilled, and damn proud of it.

Exactly. Everyone's wages will go up, cost of doing business will rise, rates go up, burger prices go up. It's all relative. It's not good nor bad, just higher numbers across the board.
Even more motivation for customers to use the low price hack wannabe contractors, instead of using those of us that jump through all the hoops. So yes, it is bad, for us.

Just because we raise our rates to cover the increased cost of doing business, doesn't mean that customers are willing to pay those rates.

I know in parts of Seattle where the minimum wage was raised that some of the restaurants have signs encouraging customer to not tip due to the higher wages.

This will work just as the Gov hopes it will. More min wage jobs will be cut and push more people onto the Gov tit. Then the Gov has them right where they want them, sitting on there ass dependent on the Gov, voting themselves more free shit! Its all about controlling the votes of the min wage earner and has nothing to do with helping them climb the ladder.

I agree with this, however those of us that pay all the taxes (large % or RDP members) are getting tired and will leave the state soon. Once the tax payers leave the state this state is F'd.

I still don't see an issue... Wages have not gone up with inflation. There were some studies done on the impact it would have on fast food joints it was very minimal. So far Seattle seems to have had luck with it. We are talking by 2022. I'd be curious to know how inflation is going to look in 6-7 years.

Workers comp rates in Ca are almost double to that in Seattle which means as an employer you will be getting hit hard on that end too since you pay per 100.00 earned by the employee.

Okay, I understand that, but over 6-7 you should see s steady increase in profits. I still don't think there is going to be the negative impact. Now if it was forced to happen next week then yes you'd probably would see an immediate impact. I will take the wait and see approach. I do all the budgets for my division and I will tell you the impact is minimal. We are projected to grow 18-20% YoY

A full time job paying $15 per hour is $31,200 per annum. I wonder how many people will no longer qualify for state government assistance, healthcare or food stamps, or whatever when they are making this wage?

I've always thought the $15 minimum wage push was so the government could kick people off its tit.

Everyone who has no problem with this has never signed the front side of a paycheck and in turn has never had to turn a profit to survive.

This is the best statement. I am already wondering if I can increase my prices and still stay competitive. By 2022 my kids will be graduating high school and I will be seriously thinking of moving the shop out of sate. To not only deal with this higher wage but just Ca and all its crap.

I was always under the impression growing up that a job at Taco Bell for minimum wage was just to get kids in the work force and on to bigger and better things. When did a cashier at TB become a career choice.?

I mentioned in the other post my issues with this change and what we pay our military. We did the math on what my kid makes as a lance corporal Marine based on his 60 hour work week, it will make you sick.

And McDonald's gives you free uniforms, he has to pay for his.

Oh no, they will just raise the limit to qualify for assistance.
