We left last Friday. Here for 2 weeks.

10 hour flight from LAX to Frankfurt Germany. Then a 1 hour flight to Venice. Followed by a 2.5 hour drive to the Dolomites.

Wow, that’s beautiful!

Why did you choose Italy?
My family is Croatian, I’d love to travel over there sometime but I doubt I ever will.

Did 10 days there about a month ago.
Beside the beauty of the place, found the Italian people to be friendly and polite.
We will be back.
Enjoy your trip and looking forward to more pics.

Cool! My entire family is wrapping up their second week there right now. They’ve seen a lot and the pics of the pizza and gelato look delicious. Some very cool history to see there. Have a good trip.

Always wanted to go to Italy but, with a major olive/olive oil allergy, the Mediterranean area probably isn’t in my future lol

I’ll live vicariously through the pictures.

You are braver than me, my twins are 11 and I don't think they can deal with the time change...

Looks like an awesome trip, thanks for bringing us along.
Wife and I plus 6 people to help makes it “manageable” lol.

Yeah, European windows are interesting. The tilt & turn feature is loved there. The horizontally pivoted window is as well. Interesting that they made the raked casement. Looks to be a lot of latching points. We typically find that making the window wider than tall on a casement problematic. I woudl think that they don’t open those too often in the area because of client temps. Unlike Hawaii where windows are opened EVERY day. Keep the photos coming. Our travels last year to Europe the best was Italy. Great country and great people. ENJOY!!! 👍

Wow man!! Every time I go on vacation somewhere with these kind of views, I always start planning on moving there lol.
We’re in Cortina D’Ampezzo right now and headed to Tuscany tomorrow (5.5 hr drive…..).

The best way to describe it, is like Mammoth or Yosemite but with the greenery of the PNW. Similar peak elevations but imo the valleys are lower so the overall height seems taller to me. We’re 30 mins from Austria and I believe the Dolomite Mtns are an extension of the Swiss Alps.

There are ski mountains every 6ft lol. Yesterday over a 2 hour drive we probably counted 20 different gondolas alone.

It’s heavily influenced by Germans and Austrians up here. The food has been good but not knock your socks off. I know that’ll change in Tuscany. A lot of English spoken here.

Food prices are actually half way decent.

Idk why Europe thinks water is not a basic human right but whatever lol. You have to buy it in a glass bottle at every restaurant.

Left the Dolomites around 8:30am yesterday. 5.5 hour ride to Tuscany but we made a stop in between.

Figured you guys would find their semi trucks interesting. They pretty much all run 3 axles on the trailers but they are single tires instead of duals. A long trailer appears to be about 40ft (based upon some shipping containers I saw). But with the blunt nose of the trucks the overall length is pretty short. The drivers head is about 3-4ft short of the top of the trailer.

This trailer had fans for the livestock

Very cool! The Dolomites area has some of the most stunning scenery on our planet. The mountain rock formations are unusual and incredibly beautiful.

Enjoy your vacation, and share some photos.

Tuscany! A little cloudy. We are staying at farmhouse/villa. There are 3 units on the property so 2 other families here as well. No biggie since everyone seems to have a different schedule. Pretty cool pool though!
Did you check the pool for a GFCI ? That Italian 230V 50hz can really rattle your cranium. 🤯 First time I got hit while swapping out receptacles hot in Germany, I was quite vocal about the experience. 🤣 Give it a try, I'm curious if you agree with my assessment of how the feeling compares. Or Not. 😁;)

Many Thanks again, this is a very enjoyable thread sir 👌👌👌

I’ll take a photo of the electric fence for the donkey and horse tomorrow. Best I can tell there’s a ground (green and yellow tied to a “ground rod”) and then a blue twisted around steel fence wire.

This is all out of an extension cord.

Wow! 🥰
I love architecture, history and cars!
Sadly, I've never even heard of the Dolomites...now I'll do some web digging/sight seeing.

Be safe, have fun! (And take lots of pics!)
