teaser image
City Council approved a study aimed at determining how to implement additional speed bumps, roundabouts, and other modifications to streets to curb speeding and improve driving safety.

🤣
Speed bumps and round abouts!!!
Sounds fun on my Banshee after work to unwind.
Not like someone’s going to write a ticket or persue.
Extra fun on rainy days because I can drive the dually Ken Block style on the way home👍

Well they do not bother with traffic enforcement much in San Bernardino and I haven’t gone a day without seeing someone run a red light.

And not just like barely, but like entering the intersection on red. I’ve learned to give a long two count after a light turns green.

And no one honors a red light or a stop sign when turning right, and heck no one really honors stop signs either. I’ve seen people drive right through them.

You know you’re in the land of confusion when they have to post stop signs at blinking red signals or everyone just blows the signal both ways.

I will say I notice a difference in SBPDs presence in the city. From what I understand, they are staffed up. Their chief said they were focused on violent crimes (down 60 some %) and then will pursue “quality of life crimes”. We see them all times of night making stops and patrolling.
They even find time show up on some of our calls now too 😁

Ok obviously no complaints. But it’s YOUR original thread referencing a study of traffic compliance in LA, then you shift to child rape in Tennessee. Lord knows my political beliefs align with yours, but keep it in the dungeon. Sheesh.

Nice lil article about the my shithole known as CA. 👍

Democrats are advancing a package of bills to assuage public anger about surging crime. One would let courts issue restraining orders against thieves, as if this would stop them. Another would toughen penalties for organized criminals who steal more than $50,000 in goods. 🤣

The pendulum has always swung back and forth from liberal to conservative (left to right) and it was somewhat stable. What I don’t understand how the pivot point was damaged so badly to allow the pendulum to swing so far to the left. The right’s political leaders had to have been asleep at the wheel for decades or felt so comfortable in their fat and happy positions that they failed to see the right position collapsing.

What people don't realize is how many basic traffic stops lead to much bigger arrest for serious criminal activity. Just out of my cop shop this week, and out of the reports I know of (I only read a fraction of them) they have recovered 6 handguns from known gangsters, arrested a crew that was hitting safes at convenience stores with cash bags in hand, all from basic traffic violation initiated stops. That doesn't even get into the wanted persons with arrest warrants that we catch all the time on traffic stops, let alone how many sex registrants get stopped near schools. This shit is all about protecting criminals plain and simple.

At this point, if society wants Cops to stop enforcing traffic laws, which are generally used to investigate much bigger issues, I say let them have their cake and eat it too. The Criminals out there would appreciate being able to drive around from crime to crime without the worry of being caught. The cops can simply become hose draggers, kickback in nice comfy chairs while eating home cooked meals, and only respond after the fact to write a report 👍 😂 .

Godspeed t&y. Much respect. I grew up in LA when you could ride the bus from Pasadena to Venice, POP, and back. No more. If Y'all are in touch with lowrivertoo, pass it along.
The City of Angels is crying. Thanks for trying you ALL. Semper Fi, Good Men.

It's based on logic vs emotion. The left is emotional, and make their decisions based on emotion. They teach because they want to do it for the kids. They take govt jobs because they want to be a social worker and impact people. They take media jobs and entertainment jobs and get into medicine and healthcare for the same reason. The Right makes decisions based on logic - heck, I was reading Rolling Stone and drinking the koolaid for years, then I took my first econ course and it all changed for me...

Think about it. We all want world peace, no more hunger, healthcare for all, but where the right and left divide is the logic that's required to obtain those goals. This is why the left always seems united (we all want to end world hunger, right?), while the right always seems fractured (OK, so how do we go about curing hunger - more taxes, less govt, nonprofits, etc...?). Emotions unite, logic divides.

Yes, the pendulum has swung hard left, and for many years I've believed it will swing back. Now the counterculture on campuses are the Young Republicans and other conservative or Christian groups, which gives credence to that theory. The factor that worries me now is the weaponization of the government - that's a new variable that has entered the equation on a scale not previously experienced. We have lost a lot of ground since the 1960's, I hope it's not too late...
