I've yet to get attached to a river boat. I do miss both my dads Sport Fishers. 42' Bertram with 903 Cummins and a 35' Viking with crusaders. Both 1979 models. I was young, 5-12, but learned how to just have a good time on those boats.

Not a boat but was sad seeing the Escalade in the driveway for the last time. Then all lonely at the lot in Bullhead 😀

My 10yo daughters says it’s her boat and she has grown up boating on it.
Don’t see it leaving the family - when the time is right, I will most likely rerig/ repower her down the road.

Both...I have one boat that is just "a boat" and another that my kids can sell when I die. One I bought 6 or seven years ago...sbc, alpha...family truckster. The other is a late 80's, BBC open bow jet...Pops bought it used 18 years ago. Pops passed 15 years ago, and that boat hasn't seen water in years.

That boat I love. First boat my kids were on, last boat my parents were on. Some mean more than others.

We are on boat number 6 with 2 stand up skis and 2 sit down in between. Went from 16' to 47', sold all and 4 years later, settled for a 22' and a 1400' river place. This has been perfect for the last 14 years.
Boating is a lifestyle and an addiction. Friends that "gave" up boating, show up year later with a new boat.
Times and situations change and nothing is forever. Every time we sold a boat, we started thinking what our next boat would be.

If I sell my boat it’s because I have my eye on the better replacement. If I had to sell it with nothing next in the hopper, I’d be a sad son of a bitch…

That bought my boat we’re in awe. I did a test run for them. Told them the ins and outs of it. Then I RETRIEVED IT! Wiped it down, disconnected trailer from my truck, hooked it to new tow vehicle.
I LOVED THAT BOAT! It was my baby! But It needed a better home. I use it all the time but my family is to small for that big of boat! I hurt bad! Not saying it because i need a pat on the back but fuck I hope I didn’t fuck myself!

It’s good to see Puff Point again. It’s across the river in the last 2 picks. It’s the nickname we gave that hill. It’s obvious how it got the nickname. Lol My neighbors and I, in the Badenoch’s subdivision would hang out there in our off road toys, golf carts, anything with wheels. It had a great view.

Idk how you sold the baddies you have had! Mine was nice but yours were bad! 270, magic deck, and the dcb! When I grow up I want to be like you!
It was bad to the bone…. but…. there is some good stuff brewing 😂😂😂

Yeah, I have a hard time selling things for sure. Both the boats I've sold came at a time when I simply wasn't using them at all, or needed to upgrade for the needs of the family. I try to limit my toy purchases to short payments or cash up front so it's never really about the financial aspect, more just the actual need for them anymore. It's also a ton easier to just hold onto something when it really isn't costing you much.

I completely regret not currently having a boat, but the family simply went a different direction with it's activities and they come before my toy selection.

Yea brother, I am the same way when I sell my toys also. I give the new owner the full red carpet experience. My buddies say its almost a flaw, lol. But these toys were my blood sweat and dollars. Growing up poor, I tend to almost be OCD with my stuff now. Its kind of a pain in ass, because it can get in the way of enjoying things. My wife is good about reminding me when I am being “crazy”!

When I sold boats for a living, there is such a thing as “overselling” and I was guilty of it and used to have to stop talking and be concious of it. Became very good at being aware also if I got in that zone!

I'll be attached when there's a dcb in the garage. Until then ..they are all just stepping stones to some bigger and better.

@pull-on i want a 21ft boat closed bow with a outboard. My boat brought us so many memories but I got to use it for 3 years for free(including all the work I’ve done to it) on what I sold it for!

True Story on this topic, my buddy has a wife that will not get rid of ANYTHING with a motor. Her jeep is 1995, wont pass smog, pile of crap. But she refuses. Her daily is a Tacoma, pile of crap also, but she refuses again. She says she is too attached.

Its Weird to me. I like new shiny shit. Not worn out junk.

But it could be worse and she could be like my wife, has to shop daily! 🤣🤣
