My niece has chickens up in Washington State.
She’s a Pro at processing them for meat. She sells eggs as well.

We do the Costco flats & go through them in about a month.

I had a tall boy German beer with a burger patty, obrian potato’s & 4 over easy eggs tonight for dinner.

Eggs are awesome!

"School-age children suffered because of the pandemic."

Correction: "School-age children suffered because of society's RESPONSE to the pandemic."

It is my understanding, please correct me if I'm wrong, that the flu itself is not killing the birds; they are being culled by the hundreds of thousands.

Is this just a SoCal thing?

No. Havasu also. Of course, that might as well be SoCal, without the regulations.

Two of the largest egg producing facilities in New Mexico and western Texas had the bird flu hit the birds.
Between both over 5 MILLION egg producing birds had to be eliminated. One facility lost all their birds.

Within north America, the avian influenza has wreaked havoc on the egg market. In November and December alone, 17.2 million egg-laying hens were killed as a result of the getting the virus.

We are paying $22.00 for 5 dozen at Costco, we were paying $14.00 per dozen a few weeks ago. At Save Mart they are $8.99 per dozen. We live in Ripon in Nor Cal next to Modesto.
And here I thought stupid egg prices were just a utah thing........lol

PSA:
No egg shortage at all at Fort Mojave Walmart.
Was just there.
Full inventory and price seemed about normal to me, but I rarely buy eggs so can’t really say.
The white box expensive ones were $10 for xtra large 18 count. Blue box 18 ct xtra large were like $8 or so?

Our neighboring Chicken ranch caught the bird flu also back in October and they had to kill 1.2million chickens and 500,000 turkeys.

That would put a dent in your Thanksgiving business. Sucks for everyone.

Is there some reason they can't inject the birds with something that would cure them? Or does this go back to that FDA business that chickens can't be injected with anything?
