I noticed that I had three broken bolts on my bead locks, I never have luck with extractions. Usually everything ends up getting EDM’d 😂

These bead locks are 24 bolt and the rims are 48 hole so if you fuck up too bad you can just index the bead locks over to new holes. Before I committed to that I decided to take a poke at extraction of the grade 8 bolts in aluminum rims, this usually ends with case hardened ez out snapped off in the broken bolt, not today.

I hit them with some penetrating oil first, then drilled them out and used the ez out on two, the third one caught with reverse drill bit and came right out.

New bolts installed with antiseize and all torqued to 20lbs.

Sometimes things end well LOL

You got lucky....EZ outs are horrible and should never be used unless you broke the bolt by overstretching it while tightening. Even then, they typically cause more problems than they solve.

A harder, more brittle tool that's smaller in diameter than the softer, tougher, and larger fastener that broke off....being used to get it out when the softer, tougher, and larger thing couldn't extract itself without breaking....that takes a special kinda trust.
