Good job! Progress = motivation. :)

Sometimes old injuries come back to haunt us. Hopefully being sidelined is only temporary. Can you ride a regular bike or mtn bike that you don't have to clip in to? The longer you're out the harder it is to get it back. I'm sure you know that.... Maybe the peloton can be fitted with platform pedals?
I’m pretty sure I can get on my mtn bike. The up stroke while being clipped in causes the most discomfort. I have come to prefer being outdoors than stationary on the Peloton. It is however convenient when the weather isn’t cooperating.

I haven’t looked into if the Pelaton being fitted with platform pedals. I’ll look into it tomorrow.

Really nervous to injur it again. Mentally, im either full throttle working out or nothing at all. Im trying to dial it back to three days a week, but it has been a challenge. Really easy to make an off day last two days into three days etc..

Are there any good fire road trails near your house? Having a good place to ride can make all the difference imo.

I was in a walking boot for two weeks now I get to go see a foot specialist. My ankle swelled up after a 3 mile canyon run followed by a 20 minute peloton recovery ride. I didn’t twist my ankle on anything and have no idea what happened. Woke up in the middle of the night like I broke something. My ankle was the Size of a softball by morning.

Went to urgent care in the morning and took x-rays. Nothing broken or torn. She Found some bone spurs on my heel and some weird coloring on the x-ray. Like I have bone spurs right where my ankle pivots. She asked if I injured it before, I was like ya, I had a bad sprain that put me in a soft cast for a month. That was 20 years ago when I was an athlete. She said I may have reinsured it again. I didn’t do anything for another few weeks, it hurt to walk even.WTF?! getting old sucks…

I can only make it a mile or so before that ankle gets really sore. In specific spots too.

The weight of the peloton makes it hurt where I can’t pedal hard with the drag/weight on my foot by being clipped in. It sucks. I’m taking it easy and watching what I eat closely… I was on a great pace and it’s tough to not push hard like I want. 😞
Sorry, Mike, that sucks 😕 Getting old does suck. Sure hope you heal up quickly. Glad to hear you're taking it easy and not trying to push through it which would only set you further back.

Walking here. Started out slowly, doing 5mi almost daily now. All hills. Fast clip. Im down 20lb, and have kept it off since last April.

Just started hiking again. That Really pushes the heart rate up!

I wish that worked for me. I can walk all day without getting tired. Where are you hiking? GMR?

GMR too easy. Hitting the hills above Upland and up to Mt Baldy these days. Getting further and further out Ice House Canyon trail every time.

Wanna do My Baldy next. Never done it. Did My Wilson, from Chantry a bunch way back when. Need a new mountain to climb.

When I was younger I hiked Icehouse a lot. It’s great when the rivers flowing.

San Antonio falls to Devils backbone trail is a good trek. I wouldn’t do it in the snow.

Have you done the Sunset trail or Potato mtn?

I grew up in Upland and spent some time up there. Rex one Mike spends a lot of time hiking our local mtns. 👍

Not yet. But I did do Stoddard. Great views.

The water was flowing up there at the end of summer! I was thinking how crazy is that!

I use to ride my dirtbikes all through those hills as a kid.

Have you explored Monrovia truck trail or the trail system that starts at JPL? Aren't you over in Glendora?

Well...

I've done the Frisbee Golf Course a shit tons of times. Does that count? 😁

Monrovia Canyon Trail? Is that the one above Fish Canyon that goes back to the waterfall? If so, yes. Many times.

Have you done Mt Baldy, all the way to the top?

Yeah, Monrovia Canyon truck trail. I rode it from the boy scout camp. I skipped the waterfall and went to the top of the mtn. I did that once.

Mt. Baldy yes but not quite to the top.

I hiked mt Whitney once and didn't make the Summit. I got altitude sickness and had to stop. I've always wanted to go back and conquer that.

That's different than the fish canyon trail.

The one your talking about hooks up with the trail that goes from Azusa Canyon to Tujunga Canyon.

The Fish Canyon trail starts next to the rock quarry. It's just a short walk these days.

We should get together and try and summit Baldy sometime.

Never attempted Whitney. Honestly it's always sounded like more work than fun!

Did do Vogelsang Peak in Yosemite though. That one is just a bit over 10k ft. Wanna do Clouds Rest and Half dome again. And Tualamie Canyon too.

So much to do! 😝

When I biked up from Camp Trask I went all the way to Monrovia Peak. Azusa Canyon is 7 or 8 miles east of there? You're saying they connect somehow...?

I gave up hiking and running after too many motocross injuries. My left foot is fused in 2 places and I get needle like pain waking me up at night if I walk or run too much. That's why I ride the mtn bike. No issues so far riding (knock on wood). I've never hiked Yosemite but it's close to Whitney. Whitney wasn't that bad aside from the altitude sickness. :)

Yes. They do.

Ive had a few friends drive from Azusa to Tujunga. There is a locked gate just past the off road staging area (on your left) to access the road.

You go to the Glendora ranger station to register, and get a combo to one of the locks to get in.

I know they had it closed for awhile. You'd probably have to call the ranger station to see if the road is open.

Don't take anything you don't want scratched up. I've heard the trail is pretty tight on the backside of Mt Wilson!

No worries. I'm not planning to explore that, but if I did I'd bike it.

27 days until wedding #1 😳. Back to the garage for the 4th day in a row. Shoulder/Leg day. Feels good to be a little sore everywhere.

Well, as long as you don't have to look good in the dress, you're on the right track 😂

That is a great point. The first one is in Kentucky. Think i just have to look good holding a banjo.
Banjo or double barrel...I'd prefer to accessorize with 2 barrels over 5 strings 😂
You just have to pick a nice rocking chair either way ;)

Been a tough year on the workout front. Spent way more days partying than in the gym especially through summer. Trying to turn it around starting this month. Doing a family challenge for most workouts in November. After a slow start. (Boss was in town the first week) I’ve knocked out 10 in the last 12 days. I rotate through Chest, Back, Shoulders and Legs. Finish with squats, deadlifts or leg press after every workout. Hoping to get some ass back so i don’t have to wear a belt with my boxers. 😬.
My body is definitely feeling the pain. Hurts a little everywhere.

That's the same 4 day rotation I do, in the same order. After years of experimenting, that works best for me.

Same here. Used to skip legs but my shoulders need the rest for Chest day. Recovery at 55 isn’t quite the same. I went to grab something over my head a little too fast the other day. It might have brought a tear to my eyes.

Switching from CrossFit to Starting Strength for a year.

Tearing my rotator cuff scared me. Want to protect it a little.

Thanks for the bump. I haven't worked out hardly at in two-three months. (Maybe 5 times👎🏻) coaching baseball for my kid made it hard, that's a shitty excuse. In a slump for motivation/wanting to workout
