Interesting.
My truck has a haul/tow mode. It increases line pressure a little and will hold a gear a little longer but will still go into overdrive.
My 00 GMC was like this. It acted like a different truck. Shifted firmer and held the gear longer.

Holly shit!! That's some real carnage right there.
I'm thinking I should pull that bolt out and swap the blue locktite for red.....

Can you safety wire it? Seems a combination of Loctite and safety wire would do the trick.

Hadn't thought of that. Good idea, but what would you anchor the safety wire to? Not much else in there

Every trans is different. Your owners manual is your friend.

Yup, the 4R100 doesn't have the option to increase line pressure at the push of a switch unfortunately
It can be done with a chip. FWIW I've towed all the time OD with the 4R100 and never had a problem. 3 different trucks. Best upgrade to a 4R100 minus a rebuild is to install a 31 row 5R110 trans cooler.

Yeah I tow in OD too, even pull grades with no issues. Normally towing ~7500lbs but have towed 13-14k before. I have the Banks transcommand and I love the way it controls the trans.

Safety the nuts to each other in a positive tightening action. I believe there are 4 nuts. Just drill each nut for safety wire in at least 2 locations. If these are the nuts that need to be safeties, then it would go like this. Blue are my shitty drawing of the nuts. Red is the safety wire. So if one tries to come loose, the other one won’t let it because it will be tightening.

That's not what came loose. What came loose was the bolt that holds the yoke in the back of the GV unit

Oh I've always done it as we but I know better when a grade comes up than to just let it lug in OD. I loved splitting my gears especially going down hill, I could almost always find a sweet spot and hardly touch my brakes.

Here's a pic of said loose bolt. I called GV about this and they said it's common on diesels especially cummins, it has something to do with the harmonics that diesels put out especially 6 cylinder diesels

If you have a trans temp gauge, tow however you want. One it gets warm, it's time to back off. You just have to pay attention.
Yessir.....trans temp and oil temp. When one gets a little warm it's time to let off the skinny pedal. Usually it's the engine oil temp for me

Yup. I'm pretty sure I used red locktite as that is all I have in my toolbox
Crazy how it came loose. The driveline shop recommended I torque said bolt to 140 ft lbs which I did. I'm gonna go back and check mine tomorrow
