“And the meek shall inherit the earth
We've taken care of everything
The words you hear the songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes

It's one for all and all for one
We work together common sons
Never need to wonder how or why

We are the priests, of the temples of syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls
We are the priests, of the temples of syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls

Look around this world we made
Equality our stock in trade
Come and join the brotherhood of man
Oh, what a nice contented world
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the red star proudly high in hand

We are the priests, of the temples of syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls
We are the priests, of the temples of syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls

I know it's most unusual
To come before you so
But I've found an ancient miracle
I thought that you should know

Listen to my music
And hear what it can do
There's something here as strong as life
I know that it will reach you

Yes, we know it's nothing new
It's just a waste of time
We have no need for ancient ways
The world is doing fine

Another toy will help destroy
The elder race of man
Forget about your silly whim
It doesn't fit the plan

I can't believe you're saying
These things just can't be true
Our world could use this beauty
Just think what we might do

Listen to my music
And hear what it can do
There's something here that's as strong as life
I know that it will reach you

Don't annoy us further
Oh, we have our work to do
Just think about the average
What use have they for you?

Another toy will help destroy
The elder race of man
Forget about your silly whim
It doesn't fit the plan”

You guys are nerds LOL

Go back and read the first post in this thread. It’s about the next generation of River people growing up doing the things we did or is this thing of ours (going to the river) dieing off or unattainable to the next generation. Hell for that matter are they even interested in beer, tittys, and fast boats?

I’m not gonna pretend that I’m not a fan of beer, tittys, and fast boats, you guys can cancel me if you want😂

I use less and less social media type stuff on the web these days, for me it’s all just sort of run it’s course. I like RDP as there is real value here when it comes to actual connection and sharing of information.

I’m not gonna tell dave how to run his site, he seems to have something figured out as the lights are still on🤷‍♂️
I think if you grew up boating and/or off-roading, you have a higher percentage of continuing those activities as you get older. Cost of entry will be higher, but used boats / off-road vehicles can be found. If you want to do those activities, you find a way. If you did not do those activities growing up, or have friends that do, the chances of you entering those activities are very low IMO.

My dad boated and my grandparents had a boat at their lake cabin I grew up at during the summers (age 7 to 19). Those are two reasons while I have a boat today. Boating was a reward for finishing chores at the cabin and many memories of boating as a kid on vacation with my dad. Then in HS my dad kept his boat at Canyon Lake in AZ and allowed me to use it whenever I wanted (I just had to pay gas) and maintain it. While I off-road; wife‘s had a good friend who started off-roading when she got remarried. They kept inviting us, so we started adding desert toys.

I think my daughter will become a boater as she turns into an adult. She keeps telling me that the boat is hers when I turn into ash. I don’t see her off-reading, but camping is in her future.

Coming from someone that has seen almost every aspect of this forum and the people on it while being probably one of the youngest members as well as an RDP employee I can say that the forum is not aging out. I grew up giving my dad crap about his "internet" friends that he talked about or pointed out coming to the river and going through the channel and now being RDP affiliated has given me the ability to go play with all of the big boy toys and meet all of those people, from the MTI's to the speed cars and just about everything in-between and they are an absolute blast. When we throw our events I see plenty of young people and plenty of older people, everyone just wants to have a good time, so maybe instead of saying the forum is aging out saying that the forum is evolving. I definitely did not get to grow up like a lot of the other members on here because the world is a different place but I can say that in the end my goal is to be able to have the river house and all of the toys that go in it.

it seems like a lot think you need a 300k plus boat to be cool .
Maybe it’s just me thinking this.
If you have 20k boat have fun.
Nobody cares just have fun.

I have never owned a 300k boat?

We've gone from three hole'r girlfriends, Coors light, blow and turquoise / pink big block Coles, to Prednisone, chemo, stool softeners, $110.000 trucks and paying our grandkids college tuitions.

Who'da thunk it, $5.49 for a gallon of Diesel!
